Games being far away usually didn't stop heavy hitters, especially ones like Fire Emblem. But I'm not too familiar with Japanese holidays, so maybe that's affecting things. I know it's the slow season, but it's worryingly slow this year. I'm not saying the whole chart should be double digits, just that we should have a few 50 pointers given the number of very major games less than 100 days out. There should be more interesting movement on the chart right now than Rune Factory given how close so many normally big guns are. Maybe it's because COMG is normally Playstation centered and Sony's biggest game on the horizon is Persona 5, more than 6 months out?

Well Fire emblem echoes had about the same points 21 days from release. So FE: Three houses is much ahead.

And Fire Emblem fates weren't on the chart 87 days from release. So again FE: Three houses is much ahead.

Hmm, good comparisons. Echos was a spin-off of sorts, and did worse than the other 3DS titles, but you can't argue with the Fates comparison. Glad to see FE is doing okay then, it's one of my all-time favorites and I'd hate to see it go downhill in Japan.

If Japan is excited about Switch's summer as I am, you wouldn't know it from looking at COMG's preorders. SMM2 should be at the top of the chart by now. Like I get that it hasn't been detailed at E3 yet, but you'd think hype would be through the roof just off of what was revealed so far. Japan was huge on SMM1. And then there's Fire Emblem. Does anyone have any comparisons? I feel like it's going really slow for an FE game in Japan. Shouldn't it be at like 50 points by now? Yokai Watch isn't the only game lagging, it's just lagging the hardest for what it is and how close to release it is. Code Vein, a delayed game with an unannounced release date that hasn't seen any growth in weeks, is higher than three major Nintendo franchises that the Japanese supposedly love, on the hottest console in the country, releasing in a month or two or three. And the bar for surpassing Code Vein is a mere 36 points. Something just feels really wrong. Is COMG okay?

Mario games tend to enter the chart late. I'm not worried, I think you'll see it gain a lot within 30 days of release, and it should do 400k+ FW.

Fire Emblem was never going to be huge. It's actually doing alright showing up early.

Yokai though is a surprise. I know the brand declined but my God has it been underwhelming. I do think it will pick and get past 150 points, but previous entries were doing 1000+ so quite a sharp decline.

I hope you're right about Mario. I could have sworn the first one did surprisingly well for a Wii U game, and then the actual SMM online community was heavily overrepresented with Japanese players, so I got the impression it was really popular. I guess I'm just used to 1st party Switch heavy hitters ending in the 100+ point ballpark and this seems like a short amount of time to get those points.

Fire Emblem does fine though, almost always getting 500k+ lifetime, which isn't bad for Japan. But Farsala pointed out above that it's actually early for FE, so that was a bad example on my part. FE will probably be fine, maybe even really successful based on how it's doing compared to Fates.

I'm glad someone is willing to acknowledge just how astounding the drop has been. 600k FW sales, 1000+ points on COMG, the Pokemon comparisons were justified. It was never going to "kill" Pokemon or even match it, but it did do close to Pokemon like numbers at one point. The decline has been incredible to behold. I'm beginning to doubt it'll even get 100 points, though I'm sure with Switch's favorable ratios that'll still translate to 150k+ first week, but that's still a depressing drop and makes me concerned for the series' future in the west, and perhaps even its having any future at all.

You have to admit though that the charts are in a pretty terrible state to have such incredible titles sitting so low, beneath even a delayed game with an unannounced release date and only 3 dozen points between 2 SKUs. I maintain that COMG as a business looks to be having a rough spot.

Mario Maker debuted with 138k acording to wikipedia. Pre-orders started 3 days ago for Mario Maker 2. It will be fine.

AL is moving again. Hoping a small streak starts.

Yeah it will be fine especially in the long run. This will be one of those games as you said fueled by the online community. In terms of FW sales, it still has a lot of time to make an entrance. I got a hunch this will do 400k+ FW

Mario Maker 2, woo!

And there he is already.

Didn't think he'd be so early, but then again, points are really low now...
