Great performance by Kingdom hearts 3! We're finally getting there - if this date holds up, my preorder will be more than 5 years old, when I finally buy the game :P

I agree, and I think it's getting worse as time goes on. But the difference is also not so pronounced that I'd feel confident that it will outperform or even match them at the rate that it's going. I think it might outperform Bravely Second but fall short of Bravely Default. It gets to be a real downer having to factor in the worsening ratio and decline of COMG when looking at comparisons to past games. Like ultimately we're here to watch numbers on a Japanese site go up as a proxy to measuring success of our favorite game franchises, systems, and companies. When we make comparisons to past games, we want to watch the numbers for the new game go up more and think that means success, not watch them go up less but mentally compensate for it with "oh but COMG gets less customers now and the Switch ratio is higher so it's okay". So even if I know that Octopath will probably do alright worldwide and decently in Japan, I still want it to do better in COMG preorders, because it's a lot more satisfying to see it be that successful and know that it did that in spite of the prevailing market conditions for the Japanese game industry and COMG in particular.
