My comparison is really only a PS4 comparison and the 3DS and combined graphs are for show. The biggest PS4 game is FFXV at the moment and DQXI is looking to take the top place so it's naturally the best comparison within PS4 platform. Also it's not too long ago when FFXV released, back then a lot of people were saying this is it, this is the biggest game PS4 is going to see and the ceiling has been set...but looks like it wasn't carved in stone yet and I always thought it was the big 3 (FFXV, DQXI, FF7R) which would battle it out. It wasn't until recently when people actually stopped downplaying DQXI PS4 and that's something I think is very strange given how DQH/DQB new spinoffs performed really well on PS platforms alone. Another interesting thing is the 3DS and PS4 sku battle, that's something nobody could have predicted and the biggest surprise here. 3DS should be leading with a wide margin already but somehow it isn't. I believe the gap will grow eventually but when and how big will it end up. Like few others have said already there isn't any point comparing DQXI or any other games to some ancient numbers, too many things have changed since then. I think there really is only 2 "relevant" comparisons and those are DQXI (3DS+PS4) vs Pokemon SuMo and FFXV (PS4) vs DQXI (PS4). Neither are perfect comparisons but at least both exist in this day and age of japanese market. DQXI 3DS+PS4 will also set interesting precedent for future Switch+PS4 games, for example maybe Monster Hunter 5 could be such. |
These are good points.
