I think that the problem with ffxv in japan was that it was made to much for the western fans, maybe if they had gone in another direction it had could be different...maybe with ffxvi SE they go back to the roots...

The comparison with FF15 is really quite uninteresting, the game is the worst selling FF mainline game since at least two decades and that even by quite a big margin. Comparisons with past DQ entries are more relevant. Anyway, unless there is an exponential rise, DQ11 could end up very disappointing as well, compared to past entries, even then, FF15 is still no match to DQ11.

Well, here's the positions of the different versions of the game at the time of writing:

 

  1. Standard edition on #1
  2. Amazon exclusive edition with a squid girl metal charm on #10
  3. Amazon exclusive with squid metal charm on #23
  4. Digital version on #26
  5. Splatoon game bundled with a splatoon-themed travel bag on #37
  6. Amazon exclusive edition bundle inkluding all 3 metal charms and all 3 new Splatoon Amiibos plus the new Splatoon-themed Pro controller on #72
  7. Amazon exclusive with squid boy metal charm on #82
And for the console bundles:
  1. Standard Splatoon Bundle on #80
The other Splatoon Bundles dropped out of the Top 100, but these additionally inkluded either ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or a travel pouch, and all apart from the basic bundle also included a screen protector.
Btw, looking at the Bundles the "charms" inkluded with the different game versions seems to be sticker packs (google page translate ain't exactly accurate)
And yes, I'm not squidding, these positions and versions are for eel!

That really is crazy. Splatooncraze in Japan is really off the charts
