With the damages done to the FF brand by FFXV, it'll be hard to recover before making FFXVI.

Apparently only Japan matters for a game mostly aimed at western markets.

Its sales in Japan don't matter as much as you think.

What Square Enix wants first and foremost is for the game to be loved by gamers. That's how they want to repair the brand.

Sales in the US and Europe will be more telling.

Apparently Japan "doesn´t count" anymore - the worst kind of damage control. When it comes to FF, Japan has always been a main market of at least very similar importance to the US market, because it isn´t simply a reductive matter of the winner takes it all. On top of that there is nothing that suggests that the West will pick up the slack.

I'm not going to argue with someone who puts words in my mouth. I never said Japan didn't count.

Wut? How can a game, that`s not even out, damage the brand?

XIII trilogy did this damage.

FFXIII sold 8 millions.

FFXV will open like 500k in Japan.

Basically, that's why FFXIII damaged the brand. A lot of people bought XIII, they were disappointed and won't buy a FF game again. That's what is happening.

here the quote I´m refering to.

"Apparently only Japan matters for a game mostly aimed at western markets."

"Sales in the US and Europe will be more telling."

You pretty much tried to deminish the importance of the Japanese market for the Final Fantasy IP. I couldn´t care less if you respond, a reaction isn´t what I´m after.

13 sold 7M, that first. Unless you wanna count the PC release into it, which is simply stupid tbh.

Second, XV will sell more than 13 everywhere outside of Japan. And just because 13 sold well doesn`t mean it did no damage to the brand. You really must be blinded to think that way. The Nova Chrystallis ruined the reputation of the franchise.

On what do you base this bullish prediction. The only difference so far is that we actually have some indication of notable decline in Japan. On the other hand we have nothing that indicates a notable increase in popularity in US or Europe.

I didn`t state that this is a fact. As you said its just a prediction of mine - if thats true, no one knows. I am not allowed to make predictions? The game just perfectly aims at certain things gamers in the west eat up at the moment that combined with the fact we get no other big Open World RPG coming the entire year (until Horizon to be precise) can only help XV. Those are the things I base this prediction upon.

I just wanted to know where you take the confidence in your prediction, since you basically called another users prediction to be stupid and blind for disagreeing with you.

Putting Lightning Returns and Type-0 (PSP) on the chart must be great.

Fabula Nova Crystallis was the right direction for the series afterall.

Come on, FFXV is not the right direction, neither FNC...

The right direction is to make a Final Fantasy, with the style of the franchise (especially in gameplay), because FF identity is gone, at least since 2002, that's a lot...

I didn`t say anything against his prediction. Boths things you mentioned had nothing to do with his XV prediction.

He said FF15 might have or will damage the FF brand, to me it seems quite related to FF15.

....Anywho, I decided it would ge fun to see what VGCharterz said about their expectations to YW3 and FFXV now that we have a clearer picture of how FFXV will perform/know how YW3 performed.
