Actually, no they didn't. They bought it for other obviously reasons (and it wasnt Zelda/Metroid).

The thing your not getting is Franchise>Franchise doesn't work with smash. Captain Falcon is alot more popular in SSB than Fzero and Marth for FE. Marth>Link and Captain Falcon>Link. Thats how it is. Ignore it like you always do though

Pls dont do this. There is a HUGEEEEEEE DIFFERENCE. And my original reply wasnt toward third party(which you assumed), it was more using Advertisement for the game then history.

Edit: Just so i can shut you down...

Snake: Kojima begged Sakurai to put him in the game, even before Melee was out. No MGS games on Wii, meaning If Anyting it help promote Sony/MS (for MGS)

Sonic: The most requested character for a third party rep. He was added in last minute, nothing to do with promoting a game/etc. Especially after the terrible Sonic06.

Megaman: The next most requested third party character. An NES legend as well thats just as classic as Mario/Link/Samus. Capcom doesn't give Nintendo Megaman games, in fact he's kinda dead. Sakurai has done an amazing job with him and treats the character 9000x better then Capcom.

Pacman: Another gaming legend mascot, evenolder than Mario himself. He is also a rep from the guys (namco) who made SSB4.

Do NOT Compare them with the likes of Big Daddy/etc.
