Now that Smash for Wii U has a release date, somebody should compare the game with Mario Kart 8 pre-orders.

Got cha

MK8: 31p   vs    SSBU: 28p

The Destined Battle of Wii and U >_<

Remind me again why we are pretending that Smash 3DS and Smash Wii U exist in a vacuum when comparing them to previous entries in the series? Considering software sales, it's obvious Nintendo will make much more money selling 4 million 3DS games and 1 million Wii U games than they would have made selling zero 3DS games and 2 million Wii U games. From the publisher's perspective, this means far more people are playing and enjoying their game, ensuring the continuing popularity of the franchise. The 3DS game isn't a cash-in that's going to hurt Nintendo's bottom line, it's an investment in the franchise itself that is going to help it endure (especially in Japan) when it otherwise would have faltered.

I'm not saying that we should be combining their sales all the time, but I am suggesting that statements like "Smash Wii U will bomb in Japan because Smash 3DS is so successful" are practically nonsensical. The two were developed side-by-side, they are two different versions of the same game.

With all due respect, why did you waste your time writing that? If people are dumb enough not to see the obvious, that bringing Smash to 3DS together with the Wii U version is a win-win situation for Nintendo and the Smash series in general, what makes you think your post will make a difference in the tiny minds of these people?

It doesn't have to change anyone's mind, I'm just presenting my own take on the situation. I'm also not in the habit of calling other users on this site dumb just because their opinions differ from mine, and I'd rather assume they are capable of seeing things from another angle and either agreeing to disagree or countering with a logically sound interpretation that opposes my own, stimulating a worthwhile conversation.

My expectations for the internet might be a little high.

So for the moment Smash is gonna "bomb" a la Mario Kart 8. Not bad.

And Christmas coming.

Everyone's moping about SSBU and I'm just happy to see the Evil Within trucking along.

I really wonder how this ones going to play out. I doubt it can pull Resident Evil numbers from the get go but maybe it has the potential to sell 4m+ with its potentail sequels. Guess time will tell huh.

I just can't wait until I have Smash in my hands! I'm holding out for the Wii U version though.

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !
