http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)
Was gonna say - I enjoyed the first game and havent played much of the 2nd game but will do in the future :O.
Is this like a enhanced port/remake of the first game or is it a sequel?

More like a new game that shares the same name. Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 was already nothing like the first game.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong (GBA) - You control Mario as it is a more modern version of the Donkey Kong (1994) gameplay which itself was a more modern version of the original Donkey Kong gameplay.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 (DS) - You have to guide Mini-Marios to the goal via the touchscreen instead of controlling a character directly. This premise spawned a DSiWare sequel and another boxed sequel, so there are three games with this sort of gameplay.
And finally there's this new 3DS eShop title that reminds me of the ancient Pipeman gameplay. In that game a fluid moved automatically and you had to place pipe parts quickly enough to create a path to the goal. This Mario vs. Donkey Kong works much the same, but the formula is obviously greatly expanded upon. Plus there are various minigames included.
Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.
Biased reviews are a pleasure to read. Just my opinion, of course.
Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
