Forums - Gaming - Google to announce formal gaming push at I/O next week.

At the beginning of 2012 I said that in 2013 Google and Apple will both have big pushes into console gaming. Since then numerous items have shown up to prove this was coming. Well, Google's I/O event is next week.

EDIT:

I think this does have connection to a new Nexus hardware for the TV. I noticed they use "Playground" along with their Nexus hardware. https://play.google.com/store/devices

"Google Playground" ... I like it.

Will they annouce a console? Or will they just start making games for andriod

Games for Android would be good. I wouldn't want Apple and Google making consoles.

Interesting. I'd love to see another competitor in the console biz.

Space Invaders for Google+ confirmed.

Isn't this just their answer to Game Center?

Actual gaming hardware, or just a service and an official controller, i wonder?

Pretty much.

And it looks like maybe they'll do some of their own game development, because, y'know, they're Google and can't process the sentence "Stick to your core competency."

If Google were to make a smartphone/tablet with physical gaming controls .... that would be a game changer.
