Probably less. Mario Galaxy was genious, one of the best rated games of all time. And the fact that it became a Nintendo Select helped ALOT in sales.

I'm sure MarioU will be great, and sell really good. But I doubt it will have all those factors I mentioned above.

Good question. My guess would be less, though not dramatically so. It's tough to say since we haven't even seen the game yet.

By the way...I think it's safe to assume the next 3D Mario game will be Super Mario Galaxy 3. I mean...come on.

It's too early to tell. If it's SMG3 or SMB4 or Super Mario Bros. Universe or something really mind-blowing, it could sell more. If it's Mario Sunshine 2 it would sell much less, not only because it wouldn't have appeal, but also because people won't buy the system to play it. For now I'm going with more, because I think Nintendo is banking a lot on the title and with the much more powerful system it could drop some jaws. Also, SM3DL really broke some ground in terms of a 3D Mario selling really well. I think that bodes well for where people's tastes are and how the title will do.

I'll make my choice when I see gameplay of the Wii U game.

I hope not. I feel like the only 3D Mario fan in the world that just hated the Galaxy games.

Gorgeous, but I just hated the feel and lack of agility of Mario in those games compared to 64 and Sunshine... Even 3D Land to a smaller extent, actually. I never really felt like much of an amazing acrobat, just felt kind of slow, sluggish, and safe.

Then again, I guess my concern isn't really the setting in this case.

I just can't see it selling more sadly. It won't even be physically possible for who knows how long, and by that time there could be newer Mario games overshadowing it.

Less, but probably more than Galaxy 2 and definitely more than Sunshine. Galaxy is at over 11m, closing in on 64. Mario U will not get there I think. WiiU's userbase will be a lot less than Wii's in the end, but 3D Mario is a core game so it won't be affected as much. New Super Mario Bros. U will still win though.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is gaining on 3D Land fast. It's at 6m to 3D Land's 8.5m, with a year less to sell. 3D Land has slowed down a lot too, I won't be surprised if NSMB2 cought up with 3D Land after coming holiday season.

It will sell more than Sunshine. That's not some great accomplishment, though...
