Forums - Nintendo Discussion - "The Great Hardcore Lie Exposed: Wii Did Not Lose Core Gamers"

i understood that but i was trying to be sarcastic. but to answer your question, i assume they are the gamers who grew up on the NES/SNES and played the nintendo 64, then moved on to either PS, Xbox or PC. the adults now who were old enough to have been gaming during the NES/SNES era.

If these people played the N64, but moved to Playstation, Xbox, or PC then these people weren't lost by the Wii. The N64/GC would be more appropriately be labelled as the consoles that lost the core. They would have been gone long before the Wii could have had any effect.

I doubt that you skipped all three of the titles. Even I am getting Pandora's tower and I am not a core gamer.

I bought Xenoblade...and it bored the hell out of me to be honest. I MIGHT get Last Story eventually. Pandoras tower, pass.

IT didnt loose me so to speak, its not like i traded in my WIi for PS3, but ill tell you what. My PS3 gets a hell of alot more use in that department. Thats for sure and i can speak for a few others.

That shit about core and casuals is sooooooo stupid. Oh yes i was so hardcore back in the 90´s playing Ninja turttles and Super Mario World, but now im a casual if i play new super mario world U and The avengers.

on a side note, the writer also ignores the fact that games; 1st and 3rd party series have gone down in sales. IE Mario Galaxy 2 did not sell as well as one, WiiPlay, Fit, Carnival Games, COD etc. the only series i see that improved sales of sequels was Raving Rabbids and Just Dance. Where as the other two its more 50/50. Food for thought.

thats why i said i assume, because i dont know how the wii "lost" the core gamers when nintendo barely had any type of gamers with the gamecube.

It really depends how much you play it. Its not so much the game but how much hours some body plays something. Their are games that are designed to not be played for a long time. Like your Just Dances, you could in theory log Skyrim like hours into that. BUt is there a person out there playing Just Dance for 200 hours? Possibly but unlikely.

What does "core" gamers refer to with Nintendo? Gamecube fans?

any gamer who doesnt buy nintendo consoles apperantly

The myth states that the Wii "lost" core gamers, implying that Nintendo had more core gamers before the Wii. Who are these people? Gamecube fans?

Because Nintendo haters always use the card that they "lost them" during the Wii. When in reality 90% (obviously wild guess) of those people probably left Nintendo with the PS1.

So yeah most of these 'core gamers' people speak of are Gamecube fans.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Well after seeing the COMG chart, I believe it. PS3 has non-stop games coming out.

Thats always been my point, you cant even compare the two and iMHO its been like that for years. I always knew it was going ot be like that because to be frank i never thought the WIi was going to be that kind of system.

I´m 26 years old, have a work and a wife. I can´t play 200 hours of nothing.
