Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation 3: retail disc vs. digital delivery

Prices need to come down, 569 Norwegian Kroner($98) for Prototype 2 is ridiculous

I prefer digital because it's so easy to switch between games. I just wish that since you aren't getting a disc and case, you should be paying a lower price. I prefer the convenience of digital though.

Wow just wow :-O

What's so wow? It's just convenient. No need to keep discs around. I have 2 younger brothers in my house who go around playing with my stuff and theres been cases where they have gotten into my VG collection. One of them even broke my Modern Warfare 2 disc.

Installs on PS3 are truly awful.

Overall an SSD for a console seems like a waste at the moment. I don't even have one in my PC yet.

Personally I prefer the disk copy, I pay £40 but the download is like £50+ and it never seems to go down till it becomes free on PS+

I didn't read the link. All I know is that I get a (approx) 4 MB/s download speed. I got nothing to complain about.

and I say it again. Download speed and install time are two completely seperate things.

I like digital, for the most part. I'm one of those people who will change their mind 5 minutes into a game. It's sooo much more convenient with the game on HDD. That's only if I'm getting a good price, though, otherwise I'll go with Blu-Ray as it's usually cheaper.

Kind of strange to see people blaming Sony (or Microsoft, or Nintendo) for the price of a game published by someone else, though.

It's also good to see Sony planning out a better download technology for the PS4 better than with the PS3. Clearly they did not anticipate digital distribution being an important factor when the PS3 was in development.

Ohh you mean the little thing that takes 10 minutes right after the dl? Yeah I don't mind that either. I usually do my downloads as I'm going to bed. Just leave my PS3 on and it shuts off when the DL/Install is finished. Not that big of a deal. To call it "truly awful" is an hyperbole.
