Uh.... When was Mario Kart 7 rushed and Super Mario 3D Land rushed? SM 3D Land might be short, but compared to SML 1 & 2 for the original Gameboy, this game is pretty damn long. I think these games were developed exactly the way they had intended them to be.

Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario U will be excellent games, much like Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy are.

I don't think they will be native 1080p, but only because the Wii U isn't that powerful of a system. How many PS3/360 games are native 1080p after all?

The Wii U does native 1080p 3D at 60 fps. And already has 11 or so Native 1080p 2D games on it.

The PS3 & 360 does 1080p in 2D at 30 fps, and 540p in 3D at 24 fps.

Land I meant rushed as in graphics, like in Mario Kart 7 when you play Donkey Kong track in the Nitro courses, you can tell when you have the 3D ON that they just put 2D sprites in the background for so many trees because of lack of time to make them.

The PICA200 does 160 million polygons and Nintendo had already made Star Fox 64 3D push more then 100 million polygons, so clearly the time frame and lack of 3D graphic trees and etc, shows that it was no where to could develop every single polygon they wanted in the game.

Theres a reason why games like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon take 4 years (since 2009) to make and it's not just great gameplay, it's because of the polygon count, which luckily takes so long that they had actually came up with an idea for multiplayer mode while just adding polygons to the single player mode.

Why are they rushed? They were pushed back so there would be more development time.

Can this 3D Mario be as good as the Galaxy games? That's a different question altogether, but it does not relate to the graphical capabilities of either game.

The trees in Mario kart 7 donkey kong track shows that they didn't have enough time.

Plus 3DS games take 1 to 4 years to develop with an Handheld team with the 160 million polygon peak of the PICA200.

The gaming community as a whole is so burned out on Mario, they might as well take the time to get it right. Give everyone some space inbetween Mario releases as well as creating a better product overall.

Mario Kart 7 was pushed back. Maybe it was rushed a bit, or maybe Retro Studios had no experience co-developing a Stereoscopic 3D Mario Kart. If tree's appear 2D on a single track, that could just have just been a simple oversight. A lot of games have minor flaws simply because no one saw it in testing, testing doesn't pick up 100% of problems in the game.

However I get where you're coming from, Mario Kart 7 released in December, if they had a month more, they could have done more testing and maybe they could have pick up little things like this, but at the same time it's such a small thing, Nintendo may have just said "don't worry about it, go and work on your next project." Realistically, something so little won't impact sales, and the game plays and looks excellent for the most part. I wouldn't say rushed is the appropriate term because the game is still amazing.

How about Super Mario 3D Land, how is that rushed?

3dLand was rushed? news to me. its look great for the system its on. Dont think they could get better. MK7? that felt rushed as hell, but not cause of graphics. NSMB2 really felt rushed.

I hope not, i dont want Ninty to get spooked and rush anything.

The 3DS peak is 160 million polygons.

Resident Evil Revelations pushed 130 million polygons.

Kid Icarus: Uprising pushed more then 100 million polygons, and Star Fox 64 3D also push over 100 million polygons.

Pokédex 3D Pro is another great example, where you can have up to 6 Pokémon displayed at once with each having such a high polygon count.

Nano Assault EX & Cave Story 3D are fully develop games also doing more then 100 million polygons.

Its hard to tell about Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, because those style graphics make it to hard to figure about polygon count.

But Nintendo had a deadline with Mario 3D & Mario Kart 7 that clearly didn't give them enough time to add all the polygons they could back then with how familiar they where at the time with the PICA200.

thats all well and good, but like i said MK7 felt rushed outside of visuals. But what you say makes sense, I usually dont look to eye shattering graphics when it comes to Ninty handheld games, so whatever.

Then compare Mario Kart 7 to Wii and compare super Mario 3D Land to Mario galaxy.

All 3rd party developers have said that the 3DS has much more better textures & shader abilities then the Wii. Like such sources as High Voltage developers.

The Wii CPU can only handle GPU at 250 MHz, but the 3DS CPU on pre-install firmware can handle GPU at 400 MHz.

The Wii can only push 30 million or so polygons but less then 100 million, but Resident Evil Reveltaions has pushed 130 million polygons, and Nintendo's own first party games have pushed more then 100 million polygons on the 3DS.

But I don't think Super Mario 3D Land was ever suppose to be as large scale of a project as Galaxy. Compare Super Mario 3D Land to Super Mario Land 1 & 2, and compare Super Mario Galaxy to Super Mario 64. Both games have improve upon the predecessor significantly, I would even argue that Super Mario 3D Land is a much bigger improvement over SML 1 & 2, it's not longer a 2 hour game. You can't blaime this on current standards because Kirby for GBA is no longer then Dream Land for GB (both about 2 hours long).

Nintendo could still develop a High end Super Mario 3D game, but I think Super Mario 3D Land was just designed to revamp the Super Mario Land franchise, and test the system. It plays a lot different then Super Mario 64 and Galaxy, a lot of the level designs literally look like 3D imaginings of old Super Mario Bros./Land art styles.

So I don't think it was rushed, it was just designed to be simple, like Super Mario Land was. I don't know if it would have sold that much better if it were complex like Galaxy was, and Nintendo is probably testing what the market wants.

As for graphics, yes MK7 and 3D Land don't push the system, but maybe Nintendo just realized that these games don't need to push the system to sell. Also Nintendo isn't very experienced making high graphic games yet, this is why many of Wii U's exclusives are outsouced (Namco is developing SSB4 for instance).

I dunno, I won't tell you that you're wrong, you're entitled to your own opinion, and maybe Mario Kart 7 could have looked better, but I think SM 3D Land was suppose to look the way it does. It still sold well, and give Nintendo room to make a "serious" 3D Mario Platformer. I've never been a fan of handheld Mario Karts, and I haven't even played it, so I'll reserve my opinion until I play the game.
