Forums - Gaming Discussion - [Quick Thought] What game do you consider the most disappointment this gen?

Mind was Playstation Allstar Battle Royale, clearly thought this game was going to be a playstation version of Smash Bros with all the unique characters from playstation which a cool storyline since they manage to gain all the original voice actors. When it was release, turn out it was nothing but advertisement for upcoming mulitplat and first party games that was coming to the PS3. A new DMC game was coming out so of coarse they put in the new Dante in there, a new Sly Cooper game was coming out around that time frame so that's why he was in there, Raiden Metal Gear Rising, a Bioshock Infinite stage when the game clearly wasn't out yet plus wasn't Bioshock first a PC only game then 360 then PS3..... yeah. The game lack if content, they wasn't really much to do in the game, the fighting felt unpolish, the hits felt floaty. The characters themself were completely unbalance of all give out, special moves feel broken at times. The most dissapointing thing about this game is the rivarly. ..... I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain why I dislike the rivarly the most.

For me, it's a disappointment lifeless game.

As this generatation slowly come to a close, tell me what game you were looking forward the most but ended up being a huge disappointment at release day?

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

L.A Noire. I really, really tried to like that game. I LOVED the atmosphere. But everything else was just plain easy, lifeless, not rewarding and plain boring.

Either Mass Effect or Metroid Other M for me. I could just not get into Mass Effect, I found the story really lackluster and I did not like the characters and Other M was over hyped and turned out to be a rather mediocre game with just terrible character development.

White Knight Chronicles was my biggest disappointment.

I second that.  It was a rare Day One buy for me.  I'd hooked myself to the hype train and was very excited.  The reality, however, was that the game was extremely tedious.  I tried to like it but it just drained the life out of me.  The mechanics weren't fun and getting to the enjoyable bits took forever.  It just felt like I was wasting my time when I could have been doing something more enjoyable, such as watching paint dry.

RAGE was a disappointment, not because it wasn't a good game, but because it didn't come close to living up to the hype.  I actually liked playing it, honestly, but it was kind of generic in a lot of ways and the not-really-an-ending ending felt sort of lame.  From the way it was hyped, though, I thought it was going to be epic and groundbreaking, like the second coming of Fallout 3.

Dragon Age 2. A mere shadow to all that I loved from the first game. Terrible action focused battles with random number of extra waves spawning right around you so you can never correctly pace the battles. Most shameless repetitive area design, and the part I loved most from the first game, the deep roads was reduced to one little area. The story and decisions still kept me interested but biggest gameplay disappointment this gen.

Does a virtual console game count? Even though I dare not specify which one...

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World for the ones I played.

Other M for the one I didn't pick up due to the bad rep.

I wouldn't say the game was bad by any means. It's just there was so much hype for it, so much marketing behind it. The revolutionary face recognition thing. Everything. A high set of stars to play the role of the characters and make them come to life. Yeah.

But then the result is a game that most of the time didn't need you to pay atention to the suspect's face (Most of the time was like 2 + 2 = this guy's lying), a lifeless hand to hand combat (seriously, those moves need a revamp, because except for the faces, everything else falls apart), a pretty easy and boring game, and a plot that I could write in the palm of my hand. Even the plot had coherence problems, and sometimes things just happen out of...convenience.

There were fun moments, such as chasing the killer who sends messages across the city. THAT's a moment I really enjoy doing, and guessing which part was the next one (If you take too much, Cole just guess it for you and screams it out loud). But the few good pieces were overshadowed by a shallow game. It was a rare day one buy for me; one that taught me that reviews and hype =/= good game.

I don't feel disappointed with anything this gen... weird..
