Forums - Gaming Discussion - COD player attempts to rape his own mother...

Sure but my problem starts much earlier: these games are, to put it quite simply, immature to begin with, they only use mature themes in a very cheap and shallow way just to appeal to minors. Treyarch, Cliff etc made extremely violent games with the 13 yo in mind.

I think they're actually made with people who like shooters in mind. If they are geared toward any particular age group, it's probably the college crowd. Which is entirely beside the point. It's not the responsibility of Activision or whomever to not make certain games; it's the responsibility of the parents to monitor the development of their children.

With all due respect you are just generalizing. Not all shooters are created equal. Some are more "immature" than others.

For example Unreal Tournament was probably targeted towards the college crowd but Gears was made with the 14 yo in mind.
Same with God of War, you have gloriously intricate mythology and you use it to make a shaved gorilla who is limited to splitting heads from torsos.

Yeah about God of War after God of War 1....

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Why do I get the feeling that video games are going to be blamed for this?

Instead of the silly parents who don't prevent their kid from playing M rated games? (And participating in an online environment that would likely get an AO rating if the ESRB rated it).

*Sigh* Control what your kids watch/play, parents. And preferably don't BUY A GUN FOR YOUR 14 YEAR OLD.

Video Games are not the blame.

with that said, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!? Some people really are sick.

Buys kid yearly M rated games.
Buys kid a gun at 11 years old.

Bad parenting is clearly not the issue here.

We don't blame video games themselves, we blame those who sell mature themes to minors.

Do we know that's the case here? The retailer may have sold it to his parents, not him.

From my brief experience at Gamestop, that's exactly how it works. We carded kids if they were alone, but they never were, it's always the adult buying shit like Mortal Kombat for their 11-year-olds

I remember there was one parent looking at one of the Assassin's Creed games, specifically at the descriptors under the ESRB rating, and said that the "sexual themes" was what made the game unacceptable and not, you know, being an assassin...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

And Call of Duty...? Not the most graphic game out there. Particularly the multiplayer element, which is all anyone cares about. Again, it's ridiculous to blame game makers for parents' failures to do their job.

Parents should find Assassin's Creed unacceptable because it has the stupidest and worst told story in gaming. ESRB should warn people about that.

Yeah because the millions of people who play violent video games commit violent crimes ( or any crime ). Soft gun laws are rife in USA but of course it was the game's fault right?
