GTAV Has around 60m views for all the trailers so it is very hyped and has reached mainstream. They will both be pretty close in sales but I think people are craving GTA more. I think CoD will still sell more though.

this isn't a fair comparison. You are comparing San Andreas on the PS2 a console with a 150 million install base. You should be comparing MW3 on both the PS3 and XBOX vs GTA San Andreas on PS2. In that case MW3 dominates GTA.

PS2 didn't have a 150 million in 2005.

Much higher piracy rates for SA then any COD ever made.

I think GTA is going to show more of a decline. It's an *old* franchise now and curiosity factor of seeing it with PS3/360 graphics is also gone.

GTA's peak was 9-10 years ago. It'll still sell well, but I don't think it'll have the same legs as previous games.

Even CoD is getting up there in age, but I think it still has one or two more yearly refreshes left in the tank before people start going elsewhere.
