Forums - Gaming Discussion - WiiU and Vita owners, can we all agree that both consoles are similarly disastrous and move on?

Can we make peace?

Never! WiiU is slightly l... 203 48.22%

Never! Vita is marginally... 106 25.18%

I agree. Both are selling so horribly that it isn't even worth making up excuses for them. Sale will probably improve, but they will never compete with the other consoles.

I think we're just going to have to wait and see, no-one really knows what Nintendo and Sony are going to pull out for the systems.
I personally believe that both systems will baseline at about 50-100% more this time next year (about 45-60k per week). I think this will happen because Nintendo will have at least 2-3 of its popular core franchises out for the WiiU and the Vita will have had a western pricecut alongside maybe a couple of big hitters (say another assassin's creed and FF type-0 for example).
The one thing I can guarrantee is I will definitely have both systems by this time next year :P

A thing to consider: people referring to the 3DS-turnaround and hope that will happen for WiiU. That is fair. But remember what was the consequence of the emergency-game-development for 3DS: a game-drought for WiiU. Iwata already confirmed, that many WiiU-projects were understaffed. If they now set an emergency-dev-focus on WiiU, it might lead to another game-drought on 3DS. Not that bad at this moment, as 3DS seems mostly saved, but not good either.

Reading through this thread, I say it is time to break out the chalkboard.

If you mean list wars it doesn't work with Nintendo fans, all games suck if they're not Mario. So 100 games won't be impressive to them cause they'll just say they all suck.

Wow. Great argument! It almost reminds me of people who dismiss Nintendo games only because they have Mario in the title, even if they are from completely different genres.

I won't start arguments with you cause you are one of the fans ppl can't argue with, its pointless, gets nowhere.

We don't have the same tastes in games so I don't care. But can you honestly say a new IP wouldn't b nice?

I never voice my opinions on what Nintendo is doing right now in these forums, I discussed them only with some people privately so as not to step on ppls toes since these forums have been on edge lately. But some posts lately are like... Increasingly repetitive and annoying.

Don't really see how attacking Vita can make Wii u look better since they aren't direct competitors but I seems to be an outlet for some of the posters here. They are both doing poorly, who has a better chance of recovering in the future is irrelevant, none of these systems is doomed.

Stop being all bitter up in this thread.

Most posters gave their reason as to why they think WiiU has a better future than Vita. You're acting like everyone is just coming in and making hit and run Vita troll posts or something.

Also,  who has a better chance of recovering isn't irrelevant. It's a perfectly legitimate discussion point.

Who's all bitter? I don't think my posts were any more bitter and I don't have a history of claiming systems are doomed unlike certain posters here. I honestly don't believe Nintendo will have those titles ready for the holidays after they said they are having trouble adapting to HD development but if they do come out I believe the Wii u will see a great boost in sales.

I just don't think its realistic to think every gamer wants the same thing from a system.

I have a Wii, but don't have a WiiU yet. I'm a total sucker for 3d Mario games and Donkey Kong. I love Bayonetta and my brother loves Zelda. A combo of all or most of those games will be the trick to me getting a WiiU. I'd like to think there are a lot of others out there also waiting for those.

I have a Vita. Uncharted, Resistance and Wipeout were the lures for me (yes Resistance was a turd). Sony doesn't have Mario and Donkey Kong to suck people in, but Killzone is looking exciting. Something like a GTA or God of War or even an Infamous and I think it'll at least do steady numbers in the near future.

The Wii U has little to no chances of "selling well"?

No Wii Sports, no Wii Play, no Wii Fit, no 3D Mario, no Zelda, no Metroid, no Super Smash Bros., no Mario Party, no Animal Crossing and not even a Mario Kart title has arrived yet. And you are already certain that the Wii U has low chances of selling well?

That's nice, I guess.

I mean, if well means N64 numbers then it's possible. That's why I wrote "well" with quote marks. It's not like those franchises made the N64 or GC sell gangbusters. The Wii series is an uncertainty but we'll see.

And Vita also has chances of selling N64 numbers anyway.

What it comes down to is that we should stop fighting about these two beacuse they're both a disaster. Vita is a disaster. WiiU is a disaster.

vita is a disaster, it's 1 and a half year old and has no big game released or anounced yet.

wii u is six months old and is getting it's AAA titles on the next few months. wii u is definetely doing bad NOW, but it's no disaster. I can't wait for next box and ps4 to release and sell sub wii u numbers, then see if sony/micro fans will call them doomed.

If Nextbox and PS4 sell sub-WiiU-numbers the game industry is in for a big crash. That will be no fun for gamers. Lets not hope that happens.

Take it as it is: WiiU is a disaster sales-wise. Sure, I love to play MH3U, Lego City, NFS and ZombiU. But that doesn't change the fact, that for most of the population the WiiU wasn't interesting enough to put the money on the table. Yes, Nintendo has a lot of options left to save the device. Let's hope that will work. But at the moment it is in the same pit the Vita is.

ps3 and xbox 360 did sub wii u numbers, did that cause an industry crash?

They never had weekly sales as low as the Wii U.  Also there was the Wii, and the DS/PSP were doing better than the 3DS/Vita.  In your world we'd have 3 consoles doing less than 100k combined next April.
