Also here is another iconic trailer that really pushed this game.  It wasn't a great game but the trailer really got people to buy into it. Also with over 11m views.

-Dead Island trailer-

The game got so much hype because of that trailer.. Its a shame the game couldn't live up those expectations

Yeah it really did.  It has 11m views.  To put that into retrospect, every other trailer in this thread doesnt have 11m views combined on the 1st page, maybe second page as well excluding Gears which also has 11m.  I really wanted to like Dead Island, but unfortunately it wasn't anything like the trailer :/

Around the Network

Gears of War 1.

And the game sold over 4million retail copies.. :o That just goes to show how good marketing can make a games a success - even if the game is not A tier material. If you can get the audience emotionally invested in the character/s in such a small timeframe, then you've essentially secured yourselves a lot of sales.

for me the tgs 2011 type 0 trailer is still the one to beat up to this date. first you get blown away by insane amount of characters, then by gameplay, then by cinematics and last but not least by the themesong that fits perfectly.

Exactly.  Makes me curious on what the most watched trailers are now

There was something about the Music used, the urban city vibe, and just general cool camera shots that had me smitten. Infamous is one of my most treasured games to this day.

This trailer was a MASTERPIECE if you ask me....

1. Comboing the guy off the roof top while it slows with every hit, then finishing him off with a Thunder Drop

2. Fighting the guys at the Power plant where he Uppercuts one dude, and then does a backwards summersault.

3. Hovers in slowly towards the Trash Golem, chucks a pulse grenade in it's chest, then goes in for a dive roll between it's legs...just in time for it to explode.

These moments semented Cole as a badass to me lol. I spent most of my games trying to recreate these moves.
