Sony is in such disastrous shape as a company, it's hard to imagine how they'll pull off a successful ps4 launch. They're in much worse position than during the ps3 launch period. They can't afford to sell ps4 at a loss, but also can't set the price too high. How can this possibly work out for them with 8gb ram, and fairly good specs, looks like the console will be far too expensive for a mass market. Something has got to give here. For all the people screaming how Nintendo will fail, why doesn't anyone think Sony will fail? That is much much more likely.

You must be new to the internet >_>

For every 1 person or article saying Sony might fail, there's about a dozen saying Nintendo is DEFINITELY going to fail (& is already failing).

Is this based on their upcoming reports? I thought they were supposed to be turning a profit.

Its extremely likely they will post a profit but I'm not sure about the next quarter.

From what I understand Sony as a whole is going to post a profit but the Electronics section isn't profitable and thus bonuses are cancelled.

Good, if your company isn't doing well then you don't deserve bonuses. Also 40-50% bonuses based on annual salary? No wonder these companies are in trouble. Executives bleeding companies dry with ridiculous compensation packages that they don't deserve.

This was covered last year when Nitnendo cut employee bonuses. The yearly pay is actually relitevly small and most of their pay consists of the bonuses. So it actually a big thing in Japan to go with out them.

So it sounds as if Sony, like NIntendo had an operating loss this year. The one time infustions came from the sales of buildings, etc. So Sony is looking "better" they are just not back yet.

Kinda figured. Their financials were inflated this year by the sale of those two buildings. Sony is still in tough with their consumer electronics division. Their new Xperia line seems to be doing OK though.

Socialists, thx Obama

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Most people don't think Nintendo will fail. They usually talk about the Wii U. If the Wii U fails, it doesn't mean Nintendo will. Look at the Virtual Boy, or Gamecube. Out of the 3, Nintendo is the healthiest financially (I'm talking about the gaming division, here. So don't include the whole of MS =P).

That's the whole of Sony. This article is about the Electronics Unit.
