Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo: Gamers growing tired of same experiences

I said that very same thing a while ago and got banned for it. Nintendo will always have a spot with me because they made me a gamer but everything they've done post N64 just doesn't draw me. N64 was the last Nintendo console I owned and everything since then seems like they're doing old things new ways (and that's not a good thing).

It was likely how you said it rather than you saying it.  Also it depends on what kind of thread you say it in as well.

edit: although i do think that nintendo fans who claim that no new types of gaming experiences were brought about this gen in doing so underline their ignorance of gaming beyond nintendo platforms

That is not what I wanted to do, I only had a problem with Gamerace saying that the Wii U and 3DS are incapable of getting some of these "new elements" because they are too weak !

And vice-versa. Any fan who thinks the other company hasn't brought anything new to the table, no matter if it's a good thing or not, is being at least a little ignorant.

which other company?

You could be right. But it seems that anyone who says something to that effect is told how much of an idiot he is because Nintendo doesn't need to change a thing. We all knew the novelty of the Wii would wear off and it has. Wii U hasn't caught on yet but I'm not going to jump the gun because when XBOX fans were clowning me for owning a PS3 from 2007-2009 I know how silly it got.

i wasn't talking about you specifically i meant generally i see many comments claiming such that a new type of controller is needed for new gaming experiences for example

They must have only figured this out recently.

New Super Mario Bros. U WiiU 2012 Action Nintendo 0.80 0.34 0.50 0.12 1.76

Since the WiiU has sold 2.97m consoles, 1.76m and growing doesn't necessarily speak bad about this game.

Dam that's over 50% of Wii U owners.

Crazy.

How is that not a good thing? There's no need to fix what isn't broken. If one really wanted something new, they'd pick up a new game. Tis that easy! ;)

To be fair Nintendo does seem to be changing their strategy since the Wii's release.  The WiiU is much more like the Gamecube than the Wii.  There 1st party is what carries them which is why many people say they don't need to change them.  The thing about games like Mario and other nintendo mascots is that each game plays very different because they aren't all 2D platformers, 3D platformers, etc  They make new games, they just keep the same mascots because they know it will sell well.  Kind of like Halo and Halo Wars.  Completely different games, just using the same name. Nintendo's biggest problem is 3rd parties, not 1st parties or even the controller.  Which they also abandoned the WiiMote for showing that it isn't following the Wii strategy.  I would like to see some new mascots or new Ip's from Nintendo as well that would be completely fresh but at the same time people want these games from nintendo and I understand why.

And yeah I remember when the PS3 got ridiculed. It was ridiculous for a while but in the end Sony delivered plenty of good games to make up for the first few years.
