Forums - Microsoft Discussion - The Next-Gen Xbox Is Getting a Hell of an Exclusive, Sources Say

neogaf is getting some interesting posts :

"A few months ago, I spoke to someone familiar with the situation over at MS.

I kept pandering him for performance numbers and how well it translates into what we see on screen. I wanted to know if anything had changed from the leaked specs we had in the original PDF floating around.

A week after the PS4 press conference he cracked and admitted that beta kits were running hotter than they wanted. He claimed the teams is experiencing headaches trying to get all the pieces to fit together in a timely fashion. The last thing he told me was, "Performance, at this moment, is the least of our concerns."

I know this sounds like some sort of fanfic, but I am sure someone or the other can back me up on if they have the courage to do so.

Also, temper your expectations for Ryse. The animation system is supposedly janky. It's not a Kinnect title only btw, it has been converted into a full featured AAA game so that is something atleast"

@Bold: If true then that is very bad.  They could get it all worked out in time though.  And I don't like that it says performance is the least of their concerns.  Hopefully that is not true.

OT:  Good for MS if it is exclusive, but it doesn't sound even remotely fun to me and I probably wouldn't buy it anyway.  Same with Destiny.  Not a fan of MP only games.

Wow only on Vgchartz can you go into a thread about an Awesome Next Xbox rumor and nearly every comment is either downplaying the rumor or bashing a game weve never even seen a screen shot of

It is sad. I thought it was getting better around here too... Hopefully it still does.

Well, this was a surprisingly interesting article.

I'm going to hold off on believing this one is true since:

a) The cost of securing actual exclusivity for what sounds like it's aiming to be a Battlefield-to-CoD level shooter would just be huge. While I'm sure it's just pocket change for MS to throw at EA for exclusivity, that kind of money could still potentially be better spent elsewhere.

b) We heard similar stuff about timed exclusivity for Destiny. Doesn't seem to be happening (yet!)

Source engine is interesting. I don't really know enough about game engines I suppose, so maybe this is completely wrong but... isn't Source quite an old engine by this point? Even if modified.

Still, if it is true then it could potentially be a massive deal, especially if they target the advertising campaign with "The next FPS from the makers of Call of Duty". Something like that, anyway (because it is going to take a bit of work to get Joe-CoD-gamer aware of a new title).

All this corporate exclusivity is confusing.  Activision & Microsoft have been in cahoots for a long time, but now it seems that Acti are (slightly) softening up towards Sony ($$$) while EA, traditionally closer to Sony, are getting closer to Microsoft ($$$?).  And Ubisoft and Sony seem to be getting closer, judging by all their exclusive DLC as of late.  Weird.

I can't help but leave my final comment about the "Microsoft-is-6-months-behind-with-Xbox-development" bit though. A little bit surprised by that, because I thought they'd actually be more like a year ahead of Sony when planning for next gen.

I want to see that game, sounds interesting, I hope they show it of on the reveal.

On the flip side, why big up an unknown game/Ip from a newly formed development studio?  Just cause Zampella and his partner own the studio?  For all we know they can be just as bad as McNamara.  Luckily for McNamara though, L.A. Noire was a good game (Supposedly, I couldn't be bothered to play it), but there's a reason why Bondi shut down.  I take it more as a wait and see. Game can be terrible, good, or amazing.

This news combined with all the negative rumors surrounding the next Xbox....seems to me like Microsoft has no idea what they're doing. May 21st can't come soon enough.

I think Microsoft found their replacement for Gears.

I got somewhat excited until I read that EA would be the publisher for this game. A game published by EA that's always online? Ummmm,... yeah no.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

just like how destiny was exclusive
