I like the more cheerful characters in games, like Rikku, Irvine, Selphie, Vanille, Snow, Wakka, etc... These are characters people tend to hate, and instead like the more dark depressed characters like Lulu, Kain and such, or steroid pumped characters from FPS/action type games who have some sort of personal mental dilemma.

While I do enjoy obscure characters, or those whose moral dilemmas are present during the whole game, I do agree that there should be more likeable characters that don't need to rely on a heavy background to be cool; only an optimistic, strong personality. I would say Jansen (from Lost Odyssey) is a cheerful character in a very dramatic game.

I'm one of the 4 people who didn't hate the Valley of Defilement in Demon's Souls. I like the atmosphere of decay, disease and filth. Same with Blighttown to some extent but the atmosphere and story wasn't quite there- the story of the Maiden and her knight guardian, the worshippers in the Maiden area, those ****ing red babies, the raining blood and so on. Unsettling as hell and I enjoyed it.

I like dialogues and bond between characters ( thats why TLoU, Beyond and Bioshock Infinite are so amazing games for me ) Moreover I like deep story, deep characters etc.

That too.  Drake chatting with Chloe while running around Nepal in Uncharted 2 was hilarious and deepened their bond.  Same thing with Sully in every Uncharted level he's in.
