Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which Segments/Aspects of Games Do Most People HATE But You LOVE

Most people HATED the ocean roaming mechanic of Wind Waker

I how ever really enjoyed it:

Made the world feel big.

Felt cool, especially riding through rain/thunderstorms.

I loved the search for treasure, fish map, submarines, islands, outposts, etc.

What about you?

Just reading the title, the first thing I thought of was the Triforce hunt in the very game you mentioned in the OP. Guess we're on the same page here.

For some reason a lot of people dislike Agniratha from Xenoblade but I loved the area.

And the 2D areas from Bowser's Inside Story rubbed some people the wrong way, but not me.

Dialogues. Most of my friends hate games with long dialogues, but I like them.

I really loved the roaming on a boat in Wind Waker too.. I'd sit back and actually feel what's it like on an actual ocean.. Taking it all in.

What I really hate in games is QTE (quick time events) I think most ppl hate it too yet we still see it in god of war and tomb raider. We have shenmue to blame for this blight on gaming.. The scar won't heal..

Count me among the Agniratha lovers.

Of course, I loved every area in that game. :P

So glad to find some people who loved sailing the sea in Wind Waker. It was one of the most immersive and exciting parts of the game.

@snyps: I'm also not a big fan of quick time events. I think that reached its peak in 2005 and probably should have been retired soon afterward, but it's still alive and well.

Let's see, what else? I like the story in Other M, which is anathema to most of the internet community.

Random Encounters: Prefer this than having to leave a zone to let another spawn, which is what most visible enemy encounter games do.
MMO RPG Combat/FFXII: I love this. Its why FFXI/FFXII/WKC/Dragon Age were all great games for me.
Kingdom Hearts II Reaction Commands: Thought they were ingenius and "Press Triangle to win" pun is totally false. Try that shit if you want to. You will get OWNED!
