so what games that are announced do you think will impact the indusrty the most? what will be the biggest "game changer".

personally i think its Destiny, i have VERY high hopes for this game and i feel that i understood the vision that bungie tried to explain they had for the game. i feel it will not only change the FPS landscape but only the online multiplayer landscape as well. i also feel it will have a huge impact on shaping online gaming on consoles for the coming generation. i also see it bring singleplayer and multiplayer closer together, as in its starting to merge the two

Another game that i think will have an impact is The Last of Us. i think it has a good chance to change character development and change story telling in video games. though i see the impact of this game to be less than the one destiny will have.

im not saying these games will 100% change the indusrty, but im saying i think they might and have a good chance at doing so

lets keep the thread about the games that are officially announced

Edit - it would be really cool if people would explain why they think the games they mention will have an impact on the indusrty, thanks

If you're talking about sales, Mario Kart 8. That game will make Wii U sales explode!

However I think you're talking about games that change the way people play games. Well, I can't think of anything, we're going to have to wait on a new IP for that. I can say, I disagree with you about Destiny, it might become popular, but I think it's going to recieve the same love/hate that many other MMO games have. World of Warcraft changed gaming, but we're not all playing that are we? I don't think Destiny will be any different then games like FFXI or Borderlands (which encourages online play). It will do alright, but it won't be anything like Halo.

The Last of Us would probably be the best bet, but it's not going to really change the indistry, not the way Resident Evil 4 did. It will be good, but I think that's all it's going to be. It's a twist on a popular genre (zombies, and undead, and stuff), made by a good developer, all I see it doing is filling in the footsteps left behind after Resident Evil 4.

Anyway, I have to vote something here right? I'm going to vote Super Smash Bros. 4. It's suppose to have a very different structure compared to previous Smash Bros games, and I think we're going to see a lot more 3rd party characters. I think Nintendo will let anyone who makes a Wii U exclusive, or even large scale MP title, will have a character in it. So Sonic, Rayman, Metal Gear, the main character in Mass Effect 4, Batman, etc.

WAIT!!! I'm in a dilema, someone else suggested Pokemon X/Y and I kinda agree. That franchise has been seeing smaller and smaller sales per game, and I think X/Y will change that. It looks like a proper 3D Pokemon game, and some of the new Pokemon don't look terrible (e.g. MewThree, and the starters). So I vote Pokemon X/Y and Super Smash Bros. 4

I think Destiny could bring something new to the table.

I have a feeling it will shape the next gen.

Destiny could redefine the multiplayer shooter genre and cut down on the CoD fad.

Titan could have the potential to be the next WoW, and turn the MMO industry on its head again.

The Last of Us could redefine storytelling in Western games, which are filled with bland space marine Rambo heroes, or black and white moral choice quests.

I could easily see the next 3D Mario making a pretty big splash if Nintendo does what they usually do and provide a different gameplay experience than what is already the norm. They will most certainly not make Galaxy 3, the only reason they made 2 was because they didn't get all of their ideas into the first game. Galaxy 2 pretty much locked down 3D platformers for last gen, nothing could compete and nothing even tried to.

For the next Mario, I could see them doing 2 player with "split screen" on the gamepad. NSMB could have been an experiment in getting players to work together using collision physics so that in the next Mario, Nintendo has the concept perfected. The players could play by themselves, no AI partner, but the real meat of the game would be playing together, using each other's heads as jumping platforms to reach higher areas and so forth. It could easily redefine 3D platformers yet again. With this being the Year of Luigi and all, making him a main character seems likely as well. In single player, his higher jump would be enough to reach higher platforms, while in 2 player Mario would be able to jump off of his head so they both could progress. They would probably figure out way more interesting things to do than that, but yeah...it could be really innovative.

Destiny has potential as a FPMMO, but does anyone remember Huxley? Almost seems like the same thing. Persistent world, FPS, MMO, post apocalypse etc. I really hope Destiny is good and that it breaks some boundaries, but I don't know how much it will change the industry. Unless it sells massive amounts, I don't really see other games trying to emulate what it does. Now if it provides cross-platform play, that is another story entirely.

I would say this one.

Destiny. More so than others mentioned above because it's going to launch in on the nexbox and ps4 also. It will be an mmo and it will be played again and again as even the next gen grows old just like Wow has on pc but probably to a lesser extent. Games coming out late this gen will be great I'm sure but will not have the lasting effect or appeal because of the new generation of consoles.

even though i do agree with some of what you said i have to point out that bungie have stressed more than once that destiny isnt an MMO. its a first person shooter action game more than anything.

Awesome to know. I was keeping up with everything Destiny in the beginning but have dropped off of of late. A showing at the next xbox reveal will help re-hype me than of course e3 is shortly after. I'll be expecting big news. I Hopefully it takes away a lot, (honestly, I'm praying for all) of the cod crowd gathered this gen. Sound like it could be Mass Effect mixed with halo... 2 of the better series this gen no doubt IMO.

MGS V will be a game changer.

No, that'll ruin the game and are essentially advertising the characters. Random mix ups or characters from franchises that don't agree together was why PSASBR had such a failure of a roster.

So what we should let Batman in Smash because we're getting Arkham Origins? Oh hellllllllll no. Don't let them ruin one of Nintendo's top franchises with useless 3rd party characters. Mega Man and Sonic just "work".

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Well, Nintendo would have to keep a cap on 3rd party characters, no more then 20% the roster, and only big names, preferably old IP's. Maybe not batman, but I'd like to see Sonic and Snake return. Whoever the protagonist is in AC4 would be good too. If FF Verus XIII or FFXV go multiplatform Wii U/PS3 or Wii U/PS4, then the main character from that game would be more then welcome. Mega Man would be awesome too.

Namco is also developing the game, so maybe a fighter or two from the Soul Calibur Universe, maybe a main character from Tales of ___, or PacMan. I dunno which Tales of character they could use, Namco hasn't made a Nintendo Tales of exclusive in a while.

I disagree. There are tons of western games with high-quality story.
