I think he was deadly serious and I dont think Im alone in thinking that. It was typical PR from a very arragant Sony.

Come on, he said "I think Peter Moore is exactly right." and then more or less rebuts.

I consider that a tongue-in-cheek response from you. Were you smiling when you said it?

Also from that article, Phil Harrison said:

"I haven't had a chance to check out the Wii myself, but Nintendo has a great history of innovation and has always done great things for gaming and long may they do so. But as it relates to our strategy they are very much in a different market."

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

So, when 360 owners are ready to graduate to the Wii, let me be the first one to say, "We don't need you, our hardware and software numbers are fine. Save your Fairweather Johnson attitude for the Superbowl, nub."

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick....

Phil Harrison also said that.

So late, so wrong ...

AFAIK the DS only sells about 12% faster than the GBA did, BTW I bought both I have different expectations with regard to handheld and home consoles.

I think the three companies and their statements in reference to each other always come off as arrogant but these guys probably have drinks together or the sorts. Employees sometimes defect to their competitors which goes to show that they all are in the same game and play mostly alike (more than the companies themselves and most fanboys would like to admit).

To me these statements come across the same as talking smack on xbox live or something!

** By the way I am fortunate enough to own all three consoles so maybe that's why these comments don't appear arrogant!?

Wii - 3810 4459 0841 8442 - (Message me to add me)

360 - LuminalACE

PS3 - AUS-ACE

So do I need a special microsoft diploma to play 360 then?

I'm a wii owner and if anything I've "graduated" to playing on my PS3.

Do you people even know what a gimmick is? It's not an insult, and it's required if one wishes for their console to have mass appeal.

Then why did he say it, instead of just keeping his mouth shut?

That's why everyone hates Sony. Ridiculist claims. Also, looking back on what he said about the DS...its gotta be pretty embarrassing, considering how much better its doing than the PSP, even though it was supposed to be a gimmick with no lifecycle, especially in software numbers.

I bet saying that about the DS taught him a lesson.

"an ingenious or novel device, scheme, or stratagem, esp. one designed to attract attention or increase appeal."

Agreed, it could easily be considered a compliment.
