Didn't Microsoft and Sony both say their console would be the first choice console and the Wii the second choice.

Problem for them is if everyone that owns either a PS3 or Xbox360 then buys a Wii they both can't help but lose to the Wii.

I don't think so, Sony back in 2006 predicted the PS2 would outsell the other home consoles for christmas 2006 and it did.

It seems supporting Nintendo has become the popular trend among next-generation console makers. After Peter Moore rather surprisingly considered Nintendo Wii as the second console of choice (alongside an Xbox 360), Sony's Phil Harrison shot back by telling GamePro, "I think Peter Moore is exactly right. I think Nintendo will be the second system consumers purchase after PlayStation 3."

As our tipster pointed out, if Nintendo was everyone's second console of choice, wouldn't that make it the top-selling console with the most market share? Regardless, statements like these are sure to put Nintendo's corporate offices in good spirits.

Well, I don't own a Wii, but if I did I'd actually find this insinuation insulting. It implies I've been playing the kiddie stuff but now I'm ready for the 'big time'.

Maybe it doesn't come across like that in US but to me in Europe it does... not only that but its pretty obviously a transparent plea for all those Wii owners who don't realise they really rather have an Xbox to buy one so MS has a chance of catching up on Wii sales...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Nintendo is first and only withthe nongamers, and second with the gamers, meaning a few hundred million in console sales

Id say going from a console that had SMG to a console without SMG is not graduating.

No, it actually sounds the same to us here in the U.S.

In one small statement he finds a way to almost completely discredit not only the wii, but also the PS3.

It is the same tactics political campaigns use.  Seemed like a low blow to use the word graduate.

Who does he think he is.

I consider that a tongue-in-cheek response from Phil Harrison, he was probably smiling saying so.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I think he was deadly serious and I dont think Im alone in thinking that. It was typical PR from a very arragant Sony.

Come on, he said "I think Peter Moore is exactly right." and then more or less rebuts.

I consider that a tongue-in-cheek response from you. Were you smiling when you said it?
