I voted 'I am not a Nintendo fan'.
But I used to be one, HARDCORE. Never had a PS1 (N64 Forever!), and even though I owned a PS2, all I played was Gamecube.
This all changed last/this gen with the Wii. Apart from the (IMO, broken and uninteresting) controller, Nintendo brought nothing new to the table that appealed to me. Same old franchises, and the new ones, the WiiSomethings, I just couldn't get myself to enjoy. I did love Mario Galaxy to death though, but apart from that, Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros were both lesser versions than the GC ones (apart from the new awesome characters in SSBB). I even bought TWO Wiis, as I currently live in Japan, and had to buy a new one to play Skyward Sword... Bad choice, as SS imo is the less interesting Zelda game I have played to date, even worse than Zelda 2.
/rant end.
Then over to the subject at hand. As I said, I live in Japan, so I have all the possible games to choose from. My girlfriend actually bought a WiiU. So I have played it and I actually liked the controller, it is a good idea. I mainly played the New Super Mario Bros, finished it, and all I could think of while playing was: "How come this game have fewer upgrades/suits than Super Mario World on Super Nintendo? Why is this game identical to a 20(?) year old game in design, AND lacking features? Where is the innovation?" To be honest, Nintendo has done nothing to refresh their games. They have been re-using the same formula since... forever, and to be honest, I am looking for something more. I mean, a 2013 2D Mario feels older and less refreshing that a 1992 one. That is not good.
So coming from an old HARDCORE Nintendo fan, this really hurts. I wish Nintendo could just be what they used to, but to me, it seems like they never will.
Therefore, I don't think I will ever buy a WiiU.
