Honestly got it because of thinking I'd get like an Ambassador program and a badass one, but if they are stopping at the digital deluxe reward and the 30 cent virtual console I'm gonna be pissed.

1st and last console I buy at launch.

First off I loved my 3DS. I had a decent relationship with the Wii, but I'm a XBox fanboy at heart.

The reasons why I won't buy a Wii U? Quite a few
- Too pricey for a secondary system which is what I would use it for (pretty much all Nintendo exclusive titles). Again, as a secondary system. I'm not going to blow $300 after blowing $500+ on the next xbox.
- Graphics while comparable to the 360, will not be up to 720/PS4 standards, so while it was nice for Nintendo to get better graphics It's more of "Too little, too late" when it comes to the eye candy department.
- It has no games. At least not right now, that could change by November/December, but In It's present form it doesn't have enough.
- None of my friends have one. About 70% of my gaming time has been spent playing with friends. The 3DS satisfies my solo experience as well as on the go experience.

It's just that simple.

3DS>Wii-U

I just picked it up a few weeks ago (Zombie U bundle along with Lego City, Super Mario Bros U, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and CoD BO2).

As I mentioned in another thread, it is best to think of the Wii U (at least with its current library of games) as a companion console. I almost never play the system by itself (unless I want to play a game that can not be played only on the pad). I usually play games like CoD BO2 and Super Mario Bros. U  on the game pad in order to add a little variety when I am gaming for a longer period of time on the Xbox  (4-6 straight hours of even a great game can get a little repetitive). It is also good for downtime in another game I am playing and for when I am waiting for a friend to come online. As an added bonus, the game pad has effectively replaced my TV remote. Also, you can watch videos on it as well so I often find myself in the situation where I am watching a Amazon Instant / Netflix video on my Wii U gamepad while playing an Xbox game, and surfing the net on my laptop (love to multitask).

It is really a great little system, but I would hate to just have a Wii U without an Xbox/Playstation/PC to pair it up with.

weak lineup and too expensive

Really there is only three reasons someone woudn't have bought it.

1) No games I want to play. (this fits people who dislike Nintendo as well as those just not interested in what's here now)

2) Don't have the money to buy one yet.

3) Waiting for price drop.

#1 will mostly never get one as they will largely prefer first party of MSony and just go that route. But there is a smaller sub-group that is just waiting for that exclusive game or set of games. So a small portion of this group will buy one eventually.

#2 and 3 will eventually get a Wii U.

@Bold:

I doubt that's the case since Nintendo has only released one of their big games (2D Mario). There's still plenty of games unreleased like Smash Bros, Mario Kart, etc. that a lot of people, including Nintendo fans, are waiting for. So I wouldn't be surprised if a fairly large portion of fans of those games haven't bought a Wii U because they are waiting on those games. Labelling them as a "smaller sub-group" is probably wrong.

OT: No point in buying a new console when my current consoles are keeping me more than busy at the moment.

- expensive for the games it has atm and its (lack of) power;
- not enough 3rd party support;
- digital content attached to console and not account (this is a huge one for me...);
- no trophies, no achievements.

About sums it up... I'm more interested in getting a Wii U than the nextbox though, so I hope Nintendo improves on most of the above. Or else I'll be with PS4 only.

I have had mine since launch.

The reason i bought mine is primarily because i love the games Nintendo produce, and i was intrigued by the gamepad.

I have no regrets about getting it at launch, i've had a blast playing NSMBU, Nintendoland, Zombiu, Assassin's Creed 3, Tekken Tag 2, Runner 2 and all my old Wii games and Virtual Console games.

Oh right ... I forgot to list this one. None of my friends seem interested in it - save for one who intends to mod the thing, so I am unsure if we can actually play together online. After the Wii virtually none of my friends seem interested in Nintendo home consoles anymore, so it seems like it is going to be a secondary system for me, mostly consisting of solitary gaming. No big incentive for me to get one when you consider some of the other shortcomings. I have more reason to get the Next Xbox since half of my friends intend to get it, but ... I won't I want Smash Bros. and Zelda, so I'll get one - eventually.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

No Zelda or Super Smash Bros. yet, so no reason for me to buy it, since these are pretty much the only games I played on my Wii (Well, and Fire Emblem)
