i think they should have waited to e3 its a little too late now

Around the Network

Games can wait for E3 for all I care, these consoles are still half a year away from launching. I wanna see the network and design innovations MS has in store for the next iteration of Live and all the new features that will entail.

the lack of gifs in this thread is depressing. MS fans just don't know how to party.

It's an announcement of a announcement date, there really is no need to go crazy partying.  Only a amateur blows out in a party this early in the day, we've got a month to wait.

I want to see their games, everything else can wait. Microsoft is only giving themselves a two week window to gain buzz until E3 and that could be either good or bad.

I thought the invitation said this was to show an overview of the future of gaming entertainment and TV while E3 was where they'll show most of the games?  I could have read that wrong on IGN though.

If I was Microsoft I would've shown the entertainment features at least a week ago and yes left it to E3 to show the games. They are waiting so long its looking like the PS4 really had them back reeling for ideas. I hope they kill it, despite what people think of me I've always hoped Microsoft kills it. Sad part is they don't, but its a new gen.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, the ms employees I have spoken to all felt Sony dropped the ball, something I actually disagree with.  However their reason for thinking this way apparently has to do with the lack of forward thinking Sony has put into the ps4.  Apparently, cloud gaming wasn't enough.

My guess is ms is going to be pushing the 3d environment a lot more than people are expecting and they feel that is the future.  Personally, I like where Sony is headed with the ps4 and it's game centered focus.

Sony has always been more game focused than their competition.

NINTENDO!? They don't even have dvd-playback!

Nintendos first party was overshadowed by Sonys first party development this gen. Their third party is amazing. I wish Nintendo would put half as much energy on their consoles as they do with their portables. The coverage of that platform is why they steady buyers all over the world. Then again, when you're backpeddling on tech its a better profit incentive.

You were talking about focus on gaming - you are now turning this into an argument of quality. In gaming-focus nothing can rival Nintendo. They deliver gaming-only systems and also provide many games for their systems. Other things are opinion.

I'm a little wary of this conference, only because there have been so many ugly rumors swirling around.

But I'm determined to watch the event with an open mind. It's not like Microsoft has to do much to make me happy. I don't need to see a console. Heck, I don't even need to see any software footage. I definitely don't need to see a high-definition floating head and a vague promise of "experiences never seen before." All I need to see is a firm, honest commitment to games.

I want a promise from Microsoft that it's expanded its internal development studios. I want a promise that it's made partnerships with third parties to take advantage of the upcoming console's unique features. Most of all, I want a promise that it's made games the number one priority on Xbox 3, at the expense of multimedia applications.

Actually no. Focus on gaming was my point and I said Sony overshadowed Nintendo in first party development, aka made more new IP's. Securing third parties is only natural for Sony, so that is the overstatement of the year. its the first party part that most people tend to forget because Nintendo is Nintendo, which in retrospect is quite impressive.
