Umm...I don't know if you can say something like "Vita's stock was sold out in a few hours" conclusively. It's not like Vita SW is that prominent on the charts right now. The highest Vita SW now is Muramasa at only 4.5k sold. Where is this large demand for the Vita coming from?

Are you suggesting people that can't buy the Vita (hardware) just buy Vita's games (software)?

Shortages causes slow software sales too... the guys that already have Vitas already bought all the games they wanted... new consumer increase the software sales.

When there is large demand for HW, SW demand follows. Sure new owners buy games alongside HW each week, but there are over 1 million Vita owners out there and they're buying games each week too. If the highest a game is selling this week for Vita is only 4.5k it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of interest in the games in general.

Not to mention that any Vita owner can just download the game off PSN for a discount.

Edit: The point is that there a bunch of factors that are largely unknown. You can criticize and make up an excuse for just about everything in this case.

come on now... seriously.. what is this 'sony having problems stocking up' ... why cause vita has been selling gangbusters all its life.. therefore they have not much stock to sell...

anyway i dont expect you people to know any better.. but logic is logic.

Valid point.. you just forget Vita have digital sales too .

Soriku... are you kidding with me? You posted the same thing I posted here in GAF threads hours ago.

While true, I don't believe that digital sales will have made up for that many sales. I mean the 3DS has 8 titles in the charts this week...and that's, of course, discounting digital. Physical is still very very strong and when we're only talking about a couple thousand in sales for the highest game...I wouldn't expect digital sales to be that big.

I will say though that Soul Sacrifice digital sales could be interesting.

3DS has around 10 million install base, Vita has around 1 million install base. It would be natural to think the 3DS should be selling 10 times the amount of software Vita is (retail). Although in reality it's only about 5 times that of total Vita software per week. If anyone is slacking in buying games, it's 3DS owners. When you consider the "megaton" games 3DS has, and the big number of new 3DS owners per week over Vita, it's even sadder when you look at it that way...

We got numbers for the first few days and it sold well.

It was my understanding that not every 3DS was on the 3DS Shop. (whereas every Vita game is on PSN)

Soo we are not going to count the Double Pack?

No, just the version which is in the charts currently. No re-releases, bundles or anything.

I doubt the Double Pack would be that big anyway. Could be wrong.

Isn't it really unfair to not  include the double pack? Double pack is practically the same game and we already have some data available for it.

22,050 * 2 = 44,100

So if you count the double pack that is already 200K so we can't just ignore it because that 44K copies is almost 25% of 200K.

So if you count the double pack that is already 200K so we can't just ignore it because that 44K copies is almost 30% of 200K.

Hmm, I didn't realise the double pack was tracked by Media Create.

And I'm not going to say if it's fair or not. The game as a whole will easily pass that mark, but my only concern is the version which is still in the charts. I'm not "hating" on the game or anything. I'm looking forward to picking it up, and I wish it all the success.

So the single game by itself will not pass 250k, not including the double pack or other re-releases, regardless if it's "fair" or not. Because aside from the data you provided for the double pack (which I concede I did not realise was avaliable), we don't know how these other versions have sold.

Tomodachi disappoints. Let's hope that during Golden Week the decline will be modest. Nintendo is most likely projecting a minimum of 2 million for this title due to DS success.

Sales don't ever work in ratios so I wouldn't assume that it'd be natural for the 3DS to sell 10x more SW. The 3DS has some big games constantly in the charts selling tens of thousands weeks after...while the Vita doesn't really have anything like that. The Vita's biggest game with legs now is Soul Sacrifice and is only selling in the 4k range about now. But again, I wish we knew SS digital sales.

I still fail to see how that proves that there isn't a shortage of Vita. Or are you saying something diffeerent?

Nah, that's not what I'm saying. We don't know for certain how much they shipped this weekend, stock could've been short and it could've been OK. But a mere 1k increase with some overall better stock this week than the last doesn't seem good to me.

But at least it's a sign of there being a higher demand than we saw last week. It's also a sign that the shortages were (and maybe still are) real, yet some people here continue to deny them with "logic" (not you )

I see a decline in Vita sales. What am I missing?

And yeah, there are stock shortages, but not enough for there to be a huge difference in weekly sales. It's not going to jump to 20-25k a week, for example.
