Nah, dude.  3DS is closer to Wii than GC.

I make bad threads.

SSB really went downhill after Melee....

Also remember that game makers get better with time. Compare launch PSP games with launch 3DS games and you'll see the large improvement.

If only people would remember this when talking about the Wii U, haha.

Oh I know. In only a few years its games will look way better than anything on PS360.

That's a good thing. It will look more comparable to the nexbox and ps4 when they release.....The Wii received a beating by people over its no hd capabilities and the WiiU is being trashed on this site already. I can't wait till e3,hopefully Ninty will have something to shut them up.

Retro's game should be very impressive visually, im hoping its either a huge open world western RPG or a new Metroid

Considering how beautiful Metroid Prime 3 and Donkey Kong Country Returns were despite running on 88MB of RAM and a fixed function GPU, Retro should be able to blow minds with a programmable GPU and 1GB of RAM. At least I hope so, I'm afraid of getting my hopes up for anything on the Wii U front these days; knowing my luck they'l be working on Mario Kart U or something else that's graphically modest.

On topic, I don't think the 3DS is up to the Gamecube graphically; it has newer shader tech, but textures and polygon counts seem far below GC levels.

Yeah, I'd say worse than GC powerwise but better than PS2. 3DS has some "techniques" to make games look better than a GC game though.

I know shaders are one (hell they are better than the Wii's).

What else is better than the GC?

The 3DS has a 400 MHz GPU vs. the Wii 243 MHz GPU.

The 3DS on pre-install firmware has its CPU clocked at twice the clock speed of the Wii CPU. Plus the 3DS has a 2010 CPU, while the Wii has a 2005 CPU, so the 3DS can process probably 8 times as much as the Wii on Firmware 1.0.0-0.

The PSP is less powerful then PS2 for crying out loud.

Plus the 3DS has around 60 shader cores. The 360 only has 48 shader cores for crying out loud, but the 360 has the more powerful CPU and a 500 MHz GPU and easily so way much more polygons.

MHz are not an accurate measure of power between different architectures. I don't believe for a second that the 3DS CPU is eight times more powerful than the Wii's. The 3DS CPU may be newer, but on the other hand as a handheld component it has to be smaller and consume less power, which limits its power relative to a console CPU.
