Forums - Sales Discussion - Sales suck in other countries?

Odd week to choose I would say as that week US sales seem to be higher then the whole of NA this week. But I chose week ending Feb 14 and the sales for other countries was 14k, which was about what you got here. That week also had about 170k total sales so the same % as well.

13 April week:

PS3 RoW = 19K = suck

Xbox 360 RoW = 6K = suckful

PSV RoW = 2.8K = ubersuckful

WiiU RoW = 2.6K = dang!

% wise PS3 ~ 15.5%, 360 ~ 7%, PSV ~ 9%, Wii U ~ 7.6%, 3DS = 8.9%.

Percentages, PS3 is doing the best, but still not flash considering the rest of the world is ~ 3/4 of the population. Xbox360 is doing the suckiest on %. However I think VGC is probably doing badly at tracking Xbox 360 in RoW given the recent shipment figures, so it might be up nearer 3DS/PSV on percent.

Pretty sure console sales here have dried up, probably selling 40 per week for the whole country.

A great majority of the people in the third world who actually buy videogames are European/American upper class or natives who are tied to Europe/US.

Can you also provide ROW numbers on software, if it ant too much.

It has a big thing to do with the population. Australia, New Zealand and Canada combined don't even have half of Japan's population, and the gaming culture is nowhere near as prevalent in them as it is in Japan. Of course games aren't going to sell as well.

I don't know how it is in Canada, but here in Australia, practically everybody I know pirates their video games because things either don't get released here or the prices are fucking insane when they are.Their dollar isn't as strong, but New Zealand pays even more and all of my friends living there pirate too. Legit sales over here would pick up considerably if we were charged a reasonable price.

so it is just that bad :(

seriously i think company should just make expensive harware for 3rd world country that accepts their pirated games...i think that is the main reason why ps1, ps2 and psp was big in other regions.... piracy = more hardware......

Im not so surprised, when the prices are higher in third world countries than on the first world one what do you expect?

Thanks Blacksaber for the sig                  Tag:"Nintendo es toda la diversión de esta generación"

Canada + Latin America is generally around 25% the size of the European Market. I don't think that applies to relatively newer consoles though since their sales likely lag in Latin America compared to Europe. So in the case of the 3DS those regions might account for 15-20% the amount of the European Market.
