EDIT: In response to the OP, I don't want an OOT sequel. The game is perfect as it is, and, besides it already kind of has a sequel in Majora's Mask. What I want is for Zelda U to be unique, and make some significant adjustments to the Zelda formula. I don't see that happening if they go for a direct sequel.

So don't you want a LttP sequel either? That game is pretty much perfect as it is as well.

That's different...kinda. I've been waiting for another LttP type game for a long time, now, so I'll take whatever I can get, heh. I honestly never really expect to see anything groundbreaking in a handheld Zelda release, anyway. On consoles, however, pretty much all of the new Zelda have taken a lot from OoT, whereas with LttP, no newer game really offers the same gameplay. Actually, the only reason I can see for an OoT sequel is to continue the story, but Majora's Mask already kind of did that.

I don't care what they do as long as it has the same art direction as the Zelda lighting and shadows tech demo!!!

does nobody want an original story anymore? I just want a new Zelda with a big world and wanna have a big adventure again, the last Zelda i really felt i was on a biiiig adventure was Twlight Princess. Skyward Sword felt a little too repetetive.

Yes, that is just what we need. After a Link to the Past revisit and a Wind Waker remake, an Ocarina of Time rehash would be perfect. Who needs original games anyway? I'd rather live in the past.

well that was only 2 games ago lol.  Unless you're couting handheld versions I guess which I don't know how many there have been since TP.

7 years is far too long for one of my favourite franchises. That's why I seriously hope they bring something new to the table with the Wii U. The Wii U Zelda will be really important for Nintendo.

that's true if they take that long I suppose a misfire is felt more.  I liked SS overall a lot, but damn did I hate the laggy motion controls and waiting for Link to react to where I was holding the sword before I could swing.  Felt completely unnatural to me and they should have kept it to aiming with motion and waggling if they couldn't get it right (which they couldn't).  Luckily the story and aesthetics I really liked (though playing that in 2011 made me really want Zelda HD).

Problem is that OOT is pretty dated. Go with Wind Waker 2 instead.

Actually just make something new.

Majora's Mask is OoT2. Just because it's not called that way does'nt make it any less of a direct sequel of the child timeline.
A direct sequel from the adult timeline is also impossible cause it would'nt be the same link and the adult timeline started the era without a hero.

What I'd like would be a explanation on why the era where the hero is defeated exists. Maybe Ganon or some other villain after OoT (somewhere in the adult era, probably the latest game in that era, after spirit tracks) found a way to go back in time and alter the result of the battle, therefor creating the ''hero is defeated'' era.

Or a prequel (not direct prequel) to Minish Cap, where we play the hero who was the first to meet the Picoris and use the Picori Blade.

hell yeah

Yes please. As long as they don't put in some stupid gameplay gimmick like Link turning into a shadow and moving along walls.

Ya I agree. Turning into a moving painting on a wall would be much better.

Whoa, careful there. Turning into a shadow is awesome and allows for some pretty nice puzzles with light. See "Lost in Shadow" for example:

Problem is link isnt a shadow.
