Forums - Gaming Discussion - Doing something different. Let's try tearing apart the games that we love.

FFVIII: (GF summon # 10000) Wtf this is taking too long.
(Triple Triad) Oh yeah just won 100 times in a row and just got the best card. Face against someone with terrible cards. Get owned. Lose best cards. GD!

Might do FFX later...

This is a pretty cool thread; finally something different from the typical thread where someone is either whining or b*tching about one thing or another.  Unfortunately I cannot really tear apart any of the games I love.  My all time favorite game is Dragon Age Origins and I guess the only real problem I had with the game is the fact that you could have chosen to sacrifice your character at the end but in the expansion if you import your character it completely changes everything as if it never happened.

I guess the only other thing I could say is that I wish they would have given us tank controls in Resident Evil 6.  In Resident Evil 5 we had the option to choose how we wanted to control the camera.  Although I am way in the minority in this but I wish they would have at least given us the option--have not even played 10 minutes of RE 6 because of this.

Here goes mine: MGS4 was a cash grab and Kojima obviously didn't wanted to do it, Snake lost all the spark and ideals he had in Sons of Liberty and the story felt like a cop out because Kojima was forced to "answer" all the questions.

I still love the game, Kojima did what he could with what he had, he was almost forced to do it.

I disagree with this.I think the story was fine and the character evolved into a grumpy, old, suicidal man. I don't believe he wanted to make a game though. Which is why you find very little actual gameplay.

The problem for me with the story was that it had to close all the loose ends and answer everything, it couldn't escape the canon, like Vamp for example which I just assume was an actual vampire was revealed to be just a nanomachine experiment, "ok that works, let's move on with the next loose end" (thats Kojima in my head). I loved Snake in Sons of Liberty he had passion, he had matured as a person and he fought for what he believed, then in MGS4 one of the first things he says is "I'm just an old killer hired to do some wet work" and I can guess thats how Kojima felt about making MGS4. Story was just ok.

Giving some sort of scientific explanation for what seemed supernatural wasn't a bad thing. I was content with their explanation for Vamp.

Snake and Big Boss started as people who loved and fought for their country but became disenchanted. I mean Snake found out he is just a science experiment built for war and became old in just a few years. He can't have children or live a normal life. You wouldn't expect him to be the same guy from MGS2. He's just living the life he was created to do.

So I dunno, I enjoyed the story. But I really felt gameplay went downhill.

Mass Effect 3 is sort of like this for me,

I loved it sure, but at the same time it was probably one of the most disappointing games I have played, if that's even possible. There is a lot of good sure, but at the same time it's just full of problems, letdowns and "what would've beens".

It's a game that I am glad I played and enjoyed but it's definitely a game that given the chance I could easily tear to shreds in a very long rant, whether that rant would be focused on the ending, the poor impact of decisions, false promises or convenient plot remains to be seen.

i cant possibly find a fault with finalfantasy ix ;)

Dark Souls: I absolutely hate that my blade bounces off of walls and staggers me while enemies proceed to hit me in the face while slashing through walls, pillars, boulders etc.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Snake already overcome and broke free from his genetic fate in MSG1 and found something to believe and fight for himself and not just being a tool of the goverment, Snake from Sons of Liberty would enjoy every drop of life he had left if he only had 6 more months to live, he actually could die at any moment from the Foxdie but he got over it and enjoy life again.

It seems we are on opposide sides, I really liked the gameplay but the story was just ok.

hmm fresh new thread... let me give it a shot:

God of war: i just hate the fixed camera thing since i want to have full control to what i want to explore by panning the camera around. not to mention the reverse role of the select button and the start button.. its just confusing.

Heavy Rain: sorry but the mouth movement isn't really that accurate and the kissing part between Ethan and Madison is just cringe worthy honestly!

Resistance: Fall Of Man: hated the fact there was no final boss to fight and give the game a proper closure.

Tekken 6 and beyond - Bloody Juggling Crap. I love the Tekken series and they ruined it. Now it's just about learning a programmed sequence of buttons and as long as you get the first one right, you win.

Mass Effect 3 has been mentioned - a great game but online part made the main story ending change? They should never do this. For a single player game this was stupid.

FFVII - Having to hold cancel to run.

Hmm, pie.

But isn't becoming old so quickly part of his genetic fate? Also, he was genetically engineered to be a killing machine and pretty much incapable of living a normal life. How much living could the guy possibly do?

But in the end, I think he comes to terms with his life.
