I've gotta be the only one disappointed by this.
+ I was expecting a wind waker or skyward sword style zelda for 3DS. I hope it is still coming though. This aerial view mechanic just *edit* isn't my type of game.

It is set in the same world as the 1991 SNES classic A Link To The Past, and is not just a 3D remake of that game. Hyrule has a similar look and feel, but the new Legend of Zelda game (it doesn't yet have a subtitle) will heavily incorporate the handheld's 3D screen to its gameplay, especially the notion of depth and height. Footage shown during the Nintendo broadcast depicted Link being hurled up in the air towards the player, avoiding obstacles. Interestingly, Link also has the ability to transform into a crude 2D drawing. When Link activates this ability the perspective of the game changes, switch to a side-on view as Link walks along walls like moving graffiti. Link also benefits from other perks while inhabiting this form – he can now slip through narrow gaps and between the iron bars of a jail cell. No official date or subtitle was announced for the new 3DS Zelda title but it will be released in time for the 2013 holiday season. I think what he meant by the same "universe" is that this is the same link as LTTP - making it a sequel just like LA or the oracle games
Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

You're not. I'm actually extremely pissed off at Nintendo right now. They remade Ocarina of Time. 3DS' primary use is 3D display which thrives on 3D content (i.e. 3D games). 3D Zelda CAN be done, and what do they do? Make a 2D styled Zelda game to follow up Ocarina of Time.... On the other hand I loved A Link to the Past and this will most likely be a solid title, but where's the effort?

Miyamoto did say he was interested in making a Link to The Past for the 3DS, some point last year.
Not sure about the art style, but this is exactly what I wanted. Can't wait!!
