Forums - Nintendo Discussion - These journalists couldn't stop smiling at Nintendo's fate

Ok I'm a PC gamer by heart, but the latest GT Bonus Round got me thinking about our industry and the poor quality of our journalists and analysts we have representing us

All four people on the panel represented gaming sites and gaming in general seemed to be amused by the idea of Nintendo having trouble with the Wii U, even laughing off that Nintendo isn't relevant to the discussion any more

They couldn't hide their smirks at Nintendo's fate, this has got to be bad for gaming

It looks like they want Nintendo to fail

Your thoughts on where our industry is heading?

western arrogance will one day lead to another crisis, like the last time.

i would laugh too. seeing that the WiiU needs help, and alot of it. and then Nintendo saying how good the console is. it cant even run DVD's. yeah a home console alright.
i think their laughing more at the fact that Nintendo isnt doing anything. and if the WiiU does fail, it would be no ones fault but their's.
i hope SEGA revels something this E3 or next E3 about their rumored console. im getting lonely with these 3 :)

It is payback for mistreating Xbox in Japan.

@curtiswolf - yeah, cause nobody nowadays has a dvd-player, we totally needed another one....* sarcasm*

Well the laughing part was somewhat silly perhaps, but the Wii U is kind of irrelevant in terms of 3rd party support when compared to the PS4 and 720 just as the Wii was compared to the PS3 and 360, which is what they were laughing at.

they also talked about wii u not really being next gen, so i guess ps 2 wasn't next gen back then?

I don't think the difference in specs between the Xbox/Gamecube and the PS2 is of the same magnitude as the difference between Wii and PS3/360 or Wii U and PS4/720. The last comparison still needs to be confirmed when 720 specs are released and PS4 confirmed, but the Wii one for sure.

That's of course not talking about the definition of next gen. Wii U is next gen by definition but that's comparing the specs of the consoles themselves, in which case Wii U seems much closer to PS3/360 than PS4/720, at least so far.

I find it disgusting but somehow revealing.

I dont want to be like them and the fact that they laugh at what i like just confirms me more in my position.

doesn't change the fact that 3rd party titles looked much worse on ps 2. yes, they don't get 3rd party support from ea. many others. but nobody even mentions the indy developers where nintendo is really doing a great job lately. more so then microsoft and sony to be honest. more and more aaa developers will fall.
