Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Bioshock Infinite really that good?

So far, I don't think Bioshock Infinite is that good.

I Agree: I'm playing just to see the end. 50 27.93%

I Don't Agree: Keep play... 53 29.61%

Haven't played it yet. 76 42.46%

You might find this interesting. Normal mode is actually relatively easy (even I managed to complete it only dying a few times). You might actually find Hard more fun as you actually make use of all the combat features:

I personally think that the game is definitely good, although isn't perfect.  I think the story, world, and visual design/artwork are impressive (particularly the latter two).  Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed by the gameplay, although I would urge anyone to play it on hard for the first time to better appreciate it.

I was also a bit disappointed seeing the final product, when compared to the earlier gameplay demonstrations, particularly this one, which made the world and enemies seem much more reactive than what was seen in the final version.

Overall, Bioshock Infinite was an enjoyable experience, but a part of me feels that it could have been much more.

2) Lie? I can make a video for you and I never played BioShock 2 in other difficult than Hard... for the first Big Sis you need only two or three health tanks... get close, use Eletric plasmaid and drill her... do that over and over... restore health if needed... you give 1/4 of damage when receive only one hit the remove half of you health from Big Sis... in less than 1 minute the Big Sis is killed.

Make sure to make the Drill decrease fuel use upgrade weapon the first... so with it the fuel is enough to kill any Big Sister/Daddy withou need recover (sometime you will use only 1/2 tank... sometimes 3/4 but never will use all to kill these enemies... without the descrease fuel use the fuel will ends ena the enemy will have 1/4 of health yet).

After the first Big Syster the things get better because you receive the Drill Froozen Tonic... so now the Drill froozen the Big Sis per some time (five seconds) and the Drill removes way mode damage (and with less the 1/4 of the Big Sis health the Drill froozen broke the Big Sis and kill instantly).

Use that for Big Daddies too... no worry just continue to Drill Froozen and finish any of them in less than 30 seconds (after get the Drill Froozen)... if needed just recover your health (always have three or more health talks to use).

I always used the Drill to kill any enemy in BioShock 2 (even the meele attack of the Drill is the best meele attack and kill any spicer in Hard with one hit after full upgrade)... and the others users uses the same tatic to kill everything.

Here a video... Easy way to kill a Big Daddy in Hard (less than 20 seconds with Drill lol).

lol hard... and the guy didn't have the Drill Froozen yet... that makes even more easy.

2) So be a Big Daddy makes the game worst... ok.

5) I disagree... be a Big Daddy is one of the issues in BioShock 2.

6) BioShock 2 is a linear shooter withou option to go to everywhere or choose what mission do... they locked the game world in BioShock 2... BioShock is a free world.

I avoided the others questions because I'm in easly stages of BI... but what I saw the BI is more like BioShock than BioShock 2.

OK, cool, but you take all the fun out of the game if you just go around looking for the best/cheesiest way to beat the game. I'm sure you can do the same thing or use the similar tatics with BI, but what's the fun in that?

When I took down a Big Daddy/Sister, I did all shorts of things in preparation and died many times - it was fun. Nothing, so far, in BI gives the same thrill and excitement.

Ultimately, all of the criticisms your laying at BS2 can also be said about BI, e.g. it being linear. So I fail to see what makes BI that great a game. Anyways, thanks for the opinion and the tips

Haven't played it yet. From the game plays I've seen, it doesn't look as good as I thought it was going to be when it was first announced. I think I'll try it out with the one hour free trial, but I'll probably end up skipping it.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I agree with the OP. I wasn't particularly blown away by this game. The critics were too generous.

Great story and presentation mixed not so exciting gameplay.

I agree. the combat got repetitive and boring. I set myself to finish it for the promise of an interesting ending. It was worth it and made me want to play the best part of the game again, the beginning. I did lose interest quickly after that though.

This video sums up perfectly what I found lacking with the game (MAJOR SPOILERS)

I would love to watch that video, but I don't want to spoil the end. Hopefully it is as good as the Reviews are making it out to be.

Yeah don't spoil it. The end isn't so much good as it is interesting. More interesting then 90% of other game endings. And it's fun to replay the first part of the game after watching the ending.

I'm glad I was curious about the ending because I was about the give up on the final annoying gameplay part. I changed the difficulty to easy just to be done with at the 3rd restart from scratch.

I've never really liked Bioshock, probably the most overrated game series this generation in my opinion. I watched my step brother play most of Infinite this week and it seemed better than the first two games.

It's a very good game with some gameplay issues.

The game on easy or normal, is possible to play like a brainless shooter for which it's merely average.

In hard/1999 The combat is very mass effect like... With some of the big negatives and postive both have, like damage sponge enemies. Especially if you utilize charge/shotgun, it's like playing vanguard :P. This one in particular has a very limited amount of enemies. The sky rail mechanic is awesome, but there's still too many rooms filled with waves of enemies which don't utilize the sky rail, and those aren't near as fun.

Playing in hard or 1999 mode forces you think about when you're using vigors, and ammo. So it becomes much more fun imo. Also, it has one of dumbest boss fights, I've seen in games 3 times.

The story is pretty great, I do wish that it didn't use the main device that it uses. But, it's used really well, and is better than most games.

I do not think this game is a 95+ game, but I don't think most of the other games rated 95+ are 95+ games either, and I like this game more than a lot of those.
