Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo aficionados .. Do you like games made by Sony?

I think they make pretty great games; I like all of Ico, SotC, Heavy Rain, LBP, Ratchet & Clank, SingStar (guilty pleasure but great party game), Flower, Jouney, Unfinished Swan, Infamous and Uncharted. GT5 and Motorstorm seem ok, but I'm not really interested in racing games. I haven't played any of the others (that I can think of). I still prefer Nintendo first party, but Sony is now a close second. Plus the better hardware and third party support mean I would rather Nintendo went third party.

I remember testing Wipeout in a department store when it first came out or hearing about Spyro but I lost interest in console gaming. Wii brought me back but I'd say the team Ico games plus a few downloadables from thatgamecompany and maybe that new rain one.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

team ico games are the only games I would want other than that I really don't care about their games

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Its funny that so many people mention second party or even third party.
Ratchet n Clank is made by insomniac its not part of sony
Spyro is also not sony IP (I loved Spyro on PS1!!!)
same goes for CrashBandicoot.
Heavy Rain is also not a Sony game.

I have two PS3's with alot of Sony games (GOW3 Uncharted 1-3, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Motorstorm, Killzone 2+3, Resistance 2+3

For me Sony does not have much of interest. Its just that (sadly) sony gets alot of exclusives made by third party studios (which is actually quite dumb. Why split the gamer community on purpose?) and because of games like Yakuza, Ni no Kuni, Atelier series etc I buy the system.

I dont care about Uncharted because I think its somewhat boring and "obvious" (looks like the train floor will break Oh wow it did...how unpredictable...) its trying to hard and Nathan is bad character design (average joe look and boring dumb/goofy personality)

I dont like Racing Games unless they are fun racers like Mario Kart or the PS1 game Street Racer so Gran Turismo is nothing I care about.

God of War is okayish (I hate 1 really crappy collision detection/level design) 3 is cool tho.

Little Big Planet might be okay (didnt play enough because of slow pacing to have a real opinion)

I am interested in Team Ico games but never played them never heard of them when I had a PS2 (was more of a Dark Cloud/Chronicle, Persona, Star Ocean, Dragon Quest 8 dude) will wait for REAL remakes not just upressed games pfftt.

Resistance is not as good as killzone

Killzone is okay

Gravity Rush was really overhyped I mean REALLY! The music is really awesome tho! Its also okayish as a game (controlls SUCK!)

Wipeout is boring IMHO (I prefer Xtreme-G or F-Zero)

Sly is something I will take a look into since the new game looks interesting

InFamous is something I like! (never played InFamous 2 tho)

Jak n Daxter is not as good as Ratchet n Clank (also has typical Naughty Dog character desgin......)

I dont know about Twisted Metal never played it

I dont really care about Socom

Folklore (if this is Sony IP) is cool

Motorstorm is okay

Now you might wonder why I even buy games like Uncharted 1+2+3 or Resistance etc. Well its because I am curious and want to know what all the fuzz is about. PLUS If I dont buy or a least play them I have like no right to participate in conversations about those games.

So Sony owes alot to second/third party studios for making me buy Sony systems and therefore also Sony games.

P.S. Why you make me google "aficionados" lol!

I can't comment on franchises that started on the PS3 as I have'nt played them, but owning a PS1 and PS2 I do like some of their games.

God of War is fun, although it's abusing of the gore, making it look too gross for my liking, I spent lots of hours on GT2 and 3, barely touched 4 (and since I played Forza I wouldn't go back to Gran Turismo). I really liked Crash, although it's no longer a Sony IP, Jak and Daxter was fun as well as Wipeout.

Uncharted looks like a game I might enjoy, as well as Infamous, but that's not enough to get the console.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

I thought sony had a lot of second party studios that worked exclusive for them?

In anycase, there are games I like that are exclusive to Sony which I buy their consoles for.

I don't want Sony going third party at all, competition moves forward our world, but if they were going to make games for a Nintendo console, I think it would be a good thing for us Nintendo gamers. More good games give you the possibility to choose, and that's always a good thing.

This can be applied for any hardware manufacturer going third party.

Gran turismo is the only possible answer

Like many others have said, I think Sony's strength is actually its third-party exclusive content, not its first-party software. Games from Insomniac, Rockstar, Capcom, Square Enix, and Konami have really made Sony's systems shine.

That being said, there is a long list of excellent Sony-developed games. I'm a huge fan of JAPAN Studio and Team Ico, but I also appreciate Killzone, Wipeout, and God of War, although I think the latter is a little overrated.

much as I enjoy my ps3 during those long, ever present nintendo droughts, I tend to play more 3rd party games than anything else, so I could live without sony being software developers should they ever opt out of the console business. To me sony have more significance as a hardware manufacturer, while I see nintendo as games developers.
