Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Fiscal Earnings - 70 Million Profit Year-End, Q4 - Loss (70 Million)

Abenomics should again be their saving grace, though to less of a degree than before.

Now we'll see what Nintendo's model could do if they managed to throw themselves into irrelevance.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Bumping this thread.

With March's NPD results, Nintendo of America has effectively sold over 550k of Nintendo 3DS Hardware and approximately 190k of Wii U Hardware.

3DS : 550K (US) + 1250 (JP) = 1800k ending March 31st

One can expect 3DS Hardware sales to be similar to the U.S. in Europe if not better, bringing the total of 2300k 3DS Hardware.

How does one feel about the above? Will Nintendo be okay this quarter or will they post another yearly loss like last year?

Furthermore, last year following the release of their financial results, Nintendo announced at their investors meeting NSMB2. Does one expect another 'significant' reveal with this report?

2.3 Million Hard-Ware actually seems quite nice in my opinion. Let's just hope Nintendo doesn't pull a total Square Enix on that number and say, "Oh... well... we were expecting around 10 Million *troll face*"

What console are we talking about when you ask if they'll make another significant announcement?

I see Iwata revealing something important for the Wii U. In their investors meeting, Iwata will most likely tackle on how Nintendo will promote growth going forward with this platform. The post-holiday figures are not impressive and investors will want to know on how Nintendo will attain that 100 Billion yen profit for FY13 with such a product in their arsenal that is currently selling at a loss.

Furthermore, I see Iwata talking about the NFC technology and the available products that will be pushed with this feature - Pokemon Scramble U is only the begining. Also, Nintendo will be announcing what sales they are projecting for this fiscal-year. I hope Iwata also talks about their digital growth as it seems that they are really pushing those digital sales for profit margins and the easy way to do so is with digital entertainment (DLC and so forth).

I think Nintendo is exaggerating how much of a loss the Wii U makes, especially at that ridiculous $350 price and the yen being much more favorable now than even in November when the Wii U launched.

It's a convenient cover story for under-performance in their overall business though.

Maybe Iwata will confirm Mario Kart U or something for Wii U this fall for sure (please understand!) ;).

As expected software sales are really low.

....Oh god, NFC Nintendo figures sold with every McDonalds happy meal. For whatever game they star in.

How much software did they sell in NA?

True. Mario Kart U is all but confirmed in my eyes to be a Fall release to be honest.

Nintendo counts R&D when they claim they are taking a loss on the Wii U. As a result, we do not know if the Wii U is sold at either a break even point or a loss on hardware.

Nintendo needs momemtum for the Wii U (3DS will be more than fine going forward, especially during the holiday season with Pokemon and Zelda) and I sincerely believe that Iwata will tackle these issues during the investors meeting. NFC will be brought it most definetely and key software titles as well.

Sadly we do not know. The only sales break-down are what was provided via their press-release for March:

- 365K for Luigi's Mansion

- 240k for Fire Emblem: Awakening

- 145k for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

- More than 60k for Monster Hunter Ultimate according to creamsugar (Neogaf)

- More than 100k for Lego City: Undercover according to creamsugar (Neogaf)

3DS Software sales in US should be above 1.5 million and shipment figures should be in the lower 2 million.

Oh well. Looking forward to that quarter results.
