Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii U is really getting excluded

To think that a Nintendo console is the poop in the punch bowl for third parties as surprising or not expected is kind of funny. I never expected the Wii U to get great third party support. I expected better third party support than Wii, but nothing great by any means whatsoever. Hopefully this can be turned around once the Wii U starts selling better.

That's it. Its just userbase size and their personal views on its growth. They are not large enough to risk a game on a small userbase which is why they won't put games on launch PS4/neXtBox either.

"foreseable future" does not equal "never ever". By 2014, DS will have changed their minds as sales will give them that positive long-term outlook.

It's not just the size of the user base.  That's part of it, certainly, but the Wii U also has to demonstrate audience interest in core third-party software.  I think there will have to be a higher adoption rate with those multi-platform releases that do give the Wii U a chance or the rest of the developers and publishers will skip a Wii U version.

Now, honestly, I don't think the Wii U has really been given a fair test yet, as most of the multi-plats have been ports or late releases, but those have mostly bombed.  The industry is watching, though, and it's going to require some positive signs before it starts taking risks.  As it stands now, I get the impression that many publishers feel they would see poor sales on the Wii U even if the installed base tripled over-night.

speaking of third party games on the system, Harker (a gaf user that has sales data) said that the zombiU has around a 10% attatch rate..and is the highest after NSMBU

For a new console, it really seems bad for companies like Deep Silver to say that they won't make any game for the console, even though it can handle the same games at the PS3 and XBOX 360.

Battlefield 4 isn't coming either.

What do you think?

Deep Silver are making no games for any of the 8th gen consoles while they are still young and have low userbases. The use of WiiU twice in the title was the result of people wanting to make the WiiU seem doomed.

Well, it was a port with extras and tablet control, not a next gen game. But The Wii U getting Batman AO is good news today. All I'm saying is that if the Wii U gets the same version as PS3 and 360 and then the Nextbox and PS4 get full next gen Batman games that the Wii U doesn't, that wouldn't be the best news tomarrow.

when the console start selling then they would reconsider....

that will happen when nintendo pour their games in.... the domino effect

That may not happen though. Multiple people (EA CEO, Epic Games, DF guys) all clearly believe the Wii U is 7th gen, ergo part of a closing gen and therefore may not expect to see the console to actually sell well. If it does start selling, by that time the pS4 etc may be out and it'd be a ball ache to scale PS4 games all the way down to Wii U hardware - it may not be cost effective.

If, not once, unless you have the gift of flawless foresight ;)

The increase in sales seems to be good, but is it just a MH:3 bubble or permament? Also, is it regarded as enough?

Were you meaning to quote the guy above me?

Wii U has Batman, and that's pretty much all I ever really loved from the "HD Twins".

I think the fact that MHTri (a game not really known across the West) can boost sales by a nice margin should show that SW (and third-party, in that regard) can easily push the Wii U up the sales charts. If the Wii U got an even bigger name, then it would be even more impressive. (I think the MHTri boost is just a bubble, though.)

It's all relative with the Wii U right now. Bigger name = Bigger boost.

Question is with all the hype over the PS4 and nextbox, can it build itself a name? Personally this is where I think Ninty dropped the ball that it can't flash it's goods and show gamers enough of something different and will get lost on the Nintendo shelves in most game stores.

Is there anything you are expecting to boost it's rep? Price cut, game releases?
