Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii U is really getting excluded

fuck that man, the next batman is coming to WiiU but NOT the PS4 or 720

I'm not sure that's good news for the WiiU if it just means that a next gen upgrade will release on PS4 and Nextbox while the WiiU just gets the current gen version that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are getting.

wonder if that means there's a third game or something. One done by Rocksteady strictly aimed at ps4 and nextbox. So one current gen + wiiu game , handheld game, next gen game

I don't know, maybe. But I do know that the PS4 and Nextbox will have no shortage Batman.

But this is not the same situation at all..wiiu has been in the market for a while now..they pretty much say they have no games planned for it now OR in the foreseeable future

They confirm they will on the ps4/720

The issue here is not the size of the audience but the audience itself. They don't think there's an audience for the game on it. The system has an audience problem

I mean it's not the big boys are there for the wiiu either if you want to go word by word..makes no sense

Why is this so complicated?

DS looks at WiiU and sees a console that has been underperforming since January and for the "foreseable" future they don't think it'll change.

However, they firmly believe the PS4/neXtBox will perform at a level that they will support it eventually.

That's it. Its just userbase size and their personal views on its growth. They are not large enough to risk a game on a small userbase which is why they won't put games on launch PS4/neXtBox either.

"foreseable future" does not equal "never ever". By 2014, DS will have changed their minds as sales will give them that positive long-term outlook.

So you think this is strictly about the 'size' of the audience? It isn't. When they say it's not the market we reach best they think the market is not the type of market that their games will sell well in. It's not a mere issue of a size of a market...I am not sure why you keep running around this simple fact. I mean they pretty much outrish said it...the nintendo audience or their market the key words here

If its not the size thats most important, then why are they not launching with PS4/neXtBox? (hint... its the size of the userbase) and why would they say its the same situation? (hint... wiiu's userbase of 2.8m is still considered very small)

Just like Arkham City releasing for PS3/360 was "not good news" for them because the Wii U got a next-gen upgrade?

For a new console, it really seems bad for companies like Deep Silver to say that they won't make any game for the console, even though it can handle the same games at the PS3 and XBOX 360.

Battlefield 4 isn't coming either.

What do you think?

Please go and read the other thread.

Deep Silver are making no games for any of the 8th gen consoles while they are still young and have low userbases. The use of WiiU twice in the title was the result of people wanting to make the WiiU seem doomed.

never worry for Nintendo system cause they always have their system seller title Super Mario Zelda Pokemon...

I can think of far more developers that are supporting the Wii U or will likely be supporting it due to their relationships than developers that are outright not supporting it.

Ubisoft, Capcom, Square Enix, WB, TT, Atlus, Namco Bandai, Sega, Crytek, Platinum, Criterion (regardless of EA), Indie devs out the ass....

vs.

EA (with some exceptions), Deep Silver, Epic, CD Projekt RED

Kind of throws a wrench in the whole....being excluded thing doesn't it? Even if more come out and say they aren't supporting it, their tune will likely change after E3 and there is a larger install base. No reason to leave money on the table....they didn't do it with the Wii, they won't do it with the Wii U.

Well here's a hint for you..you keep ignoring the fact that they mentioned the wiiu 'audience'...not the market size or anything..the audience.

And you know why they will not be releasing anything at the launch for PS4/720? Because they will packed as hell.....hint: this is why they mention the 'big boys'....I don't see that being an issue with the wiiu..do you?

It's not just the size of the user base.  That's part of it, certainly, but the Wii U also has to demonstrate audience interest in core third-party software.  I think there will have to be a higher adoption rate with those multi-platform releases that do give the Wii U a chance or the rest of the developers and publishers will skip a Wii U version.

Now, honestly, I don't think the Wii U has really been given a fair test yet, as most of the multi-plats have been ports or late releases, but those have mostly bombed.  The industry is watching, though, and it's going to require some positive signs before it starts taking risks.  As it stands now, I get the impression that many publishers feel they would see poor sales on the Wii U even if the installed base tripled over-night.
