Forums - Gaming Discussion - If the 360 ends up at $99, does the PS3 eventually surpass it in sales?

Does the PS3 surpass the 360 in sales if there is a $99 360?

Yes 61 54.95%

No 49 44.14%

Total:110

There was talk of once next generation hit, the PS3 would eventually still surpass the 360.  But, if a model of the 360 drops to $99, is that going to happen?

If for nothing else, it's MS move to prevent PS3 from getting too far ahead, or ending up ahead by the time it's all said in done. If you have a $99 console, it will surely sell plenty more than PS3. Just a sad tactic. So that one day when we all look back at this generation of gaming, MS can say, "We sold more than anyone!!!" But we'll all know the truth.

By the time the 360 is $99 (4GB), there will be at least a $125 PS3 (HDD included).

No console of the seventh generation will reach Wii levels, you know.

PS3 will pass 360 in sales regardless of what price it is.
360 cuts = PS3 cuts.
Sony isn't stupid anymore.

i think ps3 could surpass 360 before the release of this $99 console, 360 could take back the lead in december and ps3 would get it back in 2014.

people were speculating ps3 will even overtake wii when ps3 is available for 99$ but If Microsoft does it's a bad tactic.

Itll buy 360 another year, but its still gonna happen regardless. Still think that after Nov. 2013, the significance will be greatly diminished but that's another thread.

Who knows, if sales are healthy enough, 360 could pass Wii (thats a big if) with time. 360 could very well finish 2nd when its all said and done.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes, we'll know the truth. Microsoft sold more consoles, more software, had more online revenue, and a much higher profit margin. It's a sad tactic when a company sells it's products for lower prices and makes money... apparently... according to you...

Are you a Sony exec? Is it only a good tactic if you recommend your customers get a second job to buy a more expensive product?

That is some flawed logic there.

360 cut price to $99 = LONG OVERDUE PRICE CUT. Can still remain profitable or break even from hardware.

PS3 price cut to match the 360's = Another major loss for Sony per console sold. Big losses again on their financials which they cannot afford.
