Forums - Gaming Discussion - Indie games are mostly trash (Caution, rant)

95% of them are bad but for the rest you have a lot of creativity and fun in indie games. One of the biggest Minecraft is an good example. Probably spended around 2000 Euro in XBLA this gen and it was worth it.

I do agree with the OP. And games like Limbo and Hotline Miami are the exception. But with a growing indie market I think we will see more good indie games.

Now I have a question. Are the Kickstarter games considered Indie? Because I am pretty sure most of them will be horrible.

Disagree. Quite a few of them are fun and refreshing experiences. You just need to play the right ones. Generalization is a bitch (imagine someone generalizing all Nintendo games)

I actually agree. I dont feel like buying any. All i bought was re-releases in HD or remakes.

I much prefer mid-range games, wich have been dieing than the downloadable titles indies offer us. Though i will say journey looks like a happy exception.

I appreciate good indie games but I do not appreciate indie games just for their status. It's true a lot of indie games are rubbish, but I could say the same about AAA games.

And I would agree, a lot of AAA games are rubbish.

Ok, then it's just a problem with gaming in general, everyone has it's own tastes and we often don't like what is even universally acclaimed, not a problem of indie games ;)

For instance, the last indie games I've played were Fez and Mark Of The Ninja. I've found Fez quite boring, on the other hand I think Mark Of Ninja is a great game. Trials is also an excellent game. As for AAA games, these days I'm playing  Luigi's Mansion 2 and Zombi U, and I like them both much more, so far, than Dishonored.

meh ive ran across one or two indy games i have really enjoyed out of the million made. one i can think of right away is Cthulhu saves the world wasnt a bad and had basics that many rpgs have forgotten trying to be fancy. Steam has a good indy selection, i havent been on xbl in a long time so i am not sure how populated it is.

You're a little late. I ranted about this last year. Though, I mostly ranted about the word "Indie", with the quality of the games to support my overall argument. But yeah, 90% of them suck.

I would say 95-99% suck there are hundreds released each year these days, and only half a dozzen really good ones usually.

You're right, but I was trying not to be a dick about it, so I said 90%. :P
