Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft pushed back next Xbox reveal because it's not afraid of PS4?

I don't believe this May 21st rumor that the article is based off.

In addition there is no advantage in pushing back the date unless the original show didn't have enough content.

I imagine they wanted to show all the 3rd party that Sony did, so now they have to find new material

This actually kinda implies that microsoft is aiming for a wii-like console.
If sony having amazing hardware didn't scare them, then that means they're not focused on hardware.

or they have hardware that is not far behind in performance. I don't see why ps4-hardware should scare anyone.

You don't see why? Have you given it any thought?

1)if the harware is comparable, and they are feeling no pressure, then announcement earlier makes the mose sense. At announcement there will be only 6 months before release. Its not enough time to inform the public. Most consoles have nearly a full year at announcment. Furthermore if their hardware is comparable, and they believe sony will try to one up the hardware, that's good because it will increase the ps4 price which ms wants.

2)if they're targeting a diffrrent crowd, delaying announcement makes the most sense because it keeps sony thinking that the 720 is based on the wrong ideals (hardware) and is too late for sony to really copy anything. Hardware upgrading is one thing, but feature upgrading is another. If they believe 6 months is enough time and if they're trying to delay, it implies that they have something that will reach mass market attention fairly quickly that they don't want sony to see until it's too late.II

I have but I totally disagree with you in every point :)

lol I bet you do, but you don't really provide any reasoning, jsut words like "or they have hardware that is not far behind in performance". If you expect to have a disagreement, you really should provide the WHY rather than the WHAT. As in, if they have hardware that is not far behind in performance, WHY would they then not announce, UNLESS they were worried that Sony would just up the specs.

Do you see what I mean? Saying why you think a certain way is far more important than just making a statement.

I will not follow your strange logic which is, for me, based on a false assumption. I don't see any real signs why MS should be afraid of PS4. Technically they are most probably very equal, the rest has yet to be shown. I don't want to make any assumption by now and especially won't follow any theories that you provide. MS can only be afraid of that the NextBox will be a financial disaster and this can happen with or without PS4.

So you just make empty statements without providing reasoning, and then shit talk the people who try to analyze the situation?

I think my analysis is pretty good. You cannot even provide the WHY as to WHY my theory sucks, or "based on a false assumption". Just empty, meaningless statements without analysis.

I'm not trying to be a dick, just pointing out that you're clearly not dicussing anything here, so why should I care what you think, when you don't think anything?

Why would they push back an announcement if there was no pressure? It seems to me if you are comfortable with what you have, you go ahead with the (rumored) original announcement date.

On the other hand, if you feel changes need to be made, then you are forced to delay your announcement.

E3 2013?  Remember the countdown clock?

Specs have been decided for a while now. Seeing 360 vs PS3 in specs....I dont think specs are the forefront of MS's strategy anyway,at least now.

The timing change is all political and about timing (closer to E3). These are quiet months. Let Sony have them, its a long way til November.

See, sales agrees with me. Based on the evidence so far, it presumes that specs are not the key focus by MS.

I'm sure sales would also agree that a more powerful version of the same chipset could still be implemented by sony, if they haven't already upgraded.

I hope Microsoft is afraid of the PS4. It was arrogance that caused all the PS3 problems.

History repeats itself. Every new gen the winner of the previous one gets arrogant and makes mistakes losing the lead. Only time this didnt happen was from the PS1 to the PS2. Though mind you the PS2 was a really crappy piece of hardware, but consumers really wanted it at the time. Sony grew more arrogant during that gen culminatin on the PS3.

Yes and no. I really just meant that MS is aiming for the 360/PS3 graphics gap, which wasn't much, but is more cost saving in the end. I think all specs are locked in, its just software/firmware that can still be changed.

The announcement delay is political, not technical in nature.

No, you are not familiar with logic ;) No offense but based on a wrong assumption I can infer *everything*. We don't know if MS is scared but you say they are and start your argumentation. If it was sure that MS is scared than you can base your argumentation on that. You said "it's kinda implying that" while this is only true for your mind. That is why it is not possible for me to argue about it because I don't see it that way.

Well,  I don't think your logic is that great, either.

The PS4 annouce wasn´t a big deal for most gamers, almost 2 months have passed and now I see much more hatred for Microsft than hype for Sony. That´s is why Microsoft fells no presure to rush.

People here are talking as if Microsoft is a bunch of idiots that know nothing about tecnlogy or marketing. And asif Sony has not been bleeding money for 7 years in a roll.

What the hell are you taking about??

Can´t you understand that the 360 was released 1 year before the PS3, and cheaper,  however very few games on the PS3 showed any significant performance batter than the 360?

What make ou belive that this time, micosoft will be unable to show a hardware equivalent or more powerfull than Sony´s?

since its too late for them to change their RAM to GDDR5, they might preparing to make a shock news to announce the NextXbox will comes with 16GB RAM will this become more better than PS4 8GB GDDR5...??
