This article reminds me of the fact that I do use Skype often with my friends but it is an utter piece of shit with all the technical issues it has (most prominently the fact that peoples' voices become distorted randomly and the calls must be restarted). Seriously, you'd think a company like Microsoft would have it figured out by now (how long have they owned Skype?).

Anyways, good news for MS. Always nice to see a company doing well when so many are underperforming.

Same problems on my laptop but curiously works fine on my Iphone.

its either your mic or your audio settings in your laptop. i used to have issue's but i worked them out. works great with me

Audio is fine it is disconnecting that is the problem.  But my laptop is getting old and is getting those overheating problems (even cut some airholes in it lol).

lol.  Skype is perfect on every device I use it on.  Invest in some decent hardware.

No need for the flame. I do have very decent hardware. I'm not the only one who has these issues. There are many professional casters/streamers I know of who have the same trouble with Skype, and they have amazing computers and headsets. Randomly during calls someone's voice will start to sound robotic and hard to understand. It can happen 10 minutes into a conversation or 3 hours into it. The only way to solve it is by restarting the call which can be super annoying.

Continued leadership position in console market
1.3M consoles sold, down 9%
Xbox LIVE members >46 million, up 18%
Transactional revenue grew double the rate of member growth
Windows Phone momentum
161 billion minutes of calls on Skype in quarter, up 56%

EDD revenue increased, primarily due to higher Xbox 360 platform and Windows Phone revenue. Xbox 360 platform revenue increased $641 million or 55%, primarily due to the recognition of $380 million of revenue related to the Video Game Deferral and higher Xbox LIVE revenue. Windows Phone revenue increased $259 million, including patent licensing revenue and increased sales of Windows Phone licenses.

EDD operating income increased, primarily due to revenue growth, offset in part by higher cost of revenue and research and development expenses. Cost of revenue increased $275 million or 23%, due mainly to increased royalties on Xbox LIVE content and video games. Research and development expenses increased $113 million or 28%, primarily reflecting higher headcount-related expenses.

I really like those numbers, a decease in xbox 360 sales is understandable as the product life cycle is in decline, but yet an increase in xbox live, thats the telling number, that means more and more consumers are entering microsoft ecosystem, and as apple has shown getting them is have the battle, once you get them in your ecosystem wp8, skype, skydrive, etc all become more appealing, even if those xbox live memberships are from silver, 1 month temporary subs, or whatever there is still a positive attachment rate, some of those consumers are going to stay and start to buy things

What's even better is that it is 6m new LIVE users in one quarter!

On Vgchartz: - All my friends leave Xbox live and get PSn plus!
- Hundreds of threads why it is stupid people stay on xbox live...

Reality: Xbox live saw an increase of 18%!

Burn! Stupid fanboys and their wild pathetic hatefull dreams sigh =p.

2.2 million units on shelves?
Grumpy Cat: No.

Good financial results from MS again.
Keep hatin' haters!

It's just that simple.

anyways those xbox live numbers are up 6 from janurary  2012 from when they annuonced they had 40 million users. xbox live numbers are impressive no doubt but its growth has slowed down dramitcally

It's only expected it's going to increase because of all the millions of new X360 owners, SOME of them have to connect it to the internet, right? That 46% includes ALL Live accounts, meaning "Silver" which is pretty much connecting the box to the net and making an account, lol.
