Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rockband on the Wii

It really make no sense why this game was not put on Wii. It would have sold more than the PS3 version (very weak sales) and would have been cheap to put on Wii.

This has to be one of the biggest lost opportunties I have seen in a while. EA must hate making money...

 Well I am glad to get this off my chest... It has been irking me for a while how anyone can be so dumb. I am sure they are NOW working on a version seeing how well GHIII is doing for the Wii. But who know, EA never ceases to amaze me... and not in a good way.

it would no doubt sell well and i think it would be a welcome edition to the wii's game library

shortly after seeing GH3 sales they announced a wii version of rock band would be released. i think it is suppose to come out this year sometime. too lazy to look for a release date.

@kitler

I will be getting it. I am still playing guitar hero3. I need me a new rock god fix! Rockband on the Wii will be my favorite game of the year, hands down. (If it comes out that is.) It's the only type game I really have time to enjoy. I am super busy, and it's great just to sit down when you have a moment and play.

 yeah, it was a missed opportunity but it was a missed opportunity because they bought into the "wii can't sell games" stigma.  GH took the risk and they reaped the rewards from it as well and i congratulate them for that.  soon enough the rest of the developers will gain faith in the wii as well.

I just looked for a release date, and as far as I can see, it's still just a rumor. If its just a rumor at this stage, I think we can pretty much forget about a release of Rockband on the Wii this year, or ever for that matter. Remember the rumors of downloadable content on the Wii for GH3? Remember the rumors of colors? Pricedrops? You see what I am saying. In searching, I found that they have a PS2 version ....WTF! They could have done a port from the PS2 easily at bare minimum. I think if this was a problem with Nintendo that EA would have thrown them under the bus already. They may have been waiting to see how well GH3 did on the Wii to test to see if Rockband would have been viable. Evidently they weren't thrilled about what they saw so they probably don't see a huge market for it. Very disappointing.

Rock Band on Wii

Harmonix CEO says "Absolutely."

April 2, 2007 - During a conference call to announce its latest music game Rock Band for release on Xbox 360 and PS3, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos hinted strongly that a Wii-specific version of the title would be coming out in the future. When asked if there was any chance Rock Band would arrive on Wii, Rigopulos said without hesitation, "Absolutely."

"We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform," Rigopulos said. He added that Harmonix would optimize future versions of Rock Band to fit the strengths of the platform. "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

Rock Band comes to Xbox 360 and PS3 this holiday. No Wii version has been officially announced.
