Forums - Gaming Discussion - Without counting the ROD'd and (overall other failures) how much is 360 lagging behind Wii yet ?

Pathetic thread. Replacement units are NOT counted as additional sales.

Provide a source then.

Its a valid question since early units could have a failure rate as high as 40%. That's means for every million, 400k were trashed, replaced, and shipped COUNTING as actual sold units. Corporations spin their numbers to seem their better than others, you should know that.

You're the one making the thread and claiming that repaired/replaced consoles counted as sold units. So how about you provide a source on that?

Furthermore after a couple years with the new chipsets, the failure rate dropped dramatically.

Also, it's RROD.

In case of doubt, even if nobody finds a credible source, counting faulty units as sales makes much more sense than having a company that magically doesn't add to their annual shippments the faulty units, because all they want is being honest to shareholders.

We're talking microsoft here, a company with a long record of trash talk by its PR team - project Milo, remember that vapourware that never ran on kinect whatsoevever ?

Ignoring Nintendo to make 360 look like number one back in the days ?

360 sold 70 million now, but I doubt the REAL number is any higher than 55 million. So 360 is not number one, in any place on this planet.

The real question should be: How would 360 sales stand if CGI hadn't bought all those special edition consoles?

the 360 install base would be around 20 million or so

None of that has a thing to do with a source regarding counting repaired or replaced consoles as entire new consoles. So please get to work on finding one since your entire thread is based on this being factual.

Also, how do you explain the 360's impressive software tie-in if a huge chunk of its install base is actually non-existent?

Like I said, even if such fact isn't proven, my point prevails over the other (laughable) option of putting faulty units out of shipment reports for shareholders who are number hungry.
Also, the gamecube tie-in is also impressive for the 20 million it has sold. I have a friend who owned 4 xbox (only 2 faulty, the other were upgrades) and owned a collection of 150 games. I see people with a xbox give gaming much more relevance than other activities and spend more money on their platform than sony or nintendo crowds.

There you go :P

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Your "point" is nothing more than tin foil hattery that is disproven by simple logic and reason. Like I said, the software tie in pretty much destroys it, as does the fact that it makes absolutely no sense and is also a criminal offense for MS to mislead investors by fudging their own numbers this way.

I'll reply again as soon as you include a valid source confirming said tin foil hattery.

I bet that many people didn't buy 360's because of RROD. I also surmise that many of those same people bought a PS3 instead. None of this changes the current situation however.
