I've seen two threads like this in the last week about how kinect and now the move are for girl gamers......Im sure you all have seen plenty of casual guy gamers.  I don't know what it is about gamers that thinks women don't play games just like men but they do. Not only are they shunned from playing online because of some kind of harassment (Usually sexual harassment) but many people consider them not as much of a gamer as men. Wrong.

Hardcore girl gamers typically like the same games that male hardcore gamers like. You know women and men really arent all that different like some of you guys are acting like(this goes for the real world outside of games as well). Guys play casual games just like girls do, and girls play hardcore games like men do.

Sony - Will have Hardcore and casual games for different audiences.
MSFT - Will have hardcore and casual games for different audiences.
Nintendo - Will have hardcore and casual games for different audiences.

Men - Like hardcore and Casual experiences
Women - Like hardcore and casual experiences.

Women and Men believe it or not are very much alike personality wise.  Physically we may be different but our personalities are human on both sides.

If you look at movies you'll see many like The Notebook, Pretty Woman, and The Proposal aimed directly at women.  The same with books but there's really nothing like that in gaming.  I'm not saying that all women are like that, my girlfriend for example is a big horror movie fan, but for women that do love those kinds of movies they won't find much of anything like it in gaming.

It's not just those types of movies either.  Imagine standing in front of some people and lhe only thing you know about them is that they loved the movies Dances with Wolves, Amadeus, The Sound of Music, and other Oscar winners.  What would you recommend to them for games that would give them that same kind of experience?  There are studios like Naughty Dog saying they're raising the bar for game writing but their hands are still tied by being forced to appeal to the same group of core gamers that almost all AAA games are aimed at.

I think it would benefit everyone if games evolve to where those kinds of gaming experiences are included.  I think the single biggest reason we see gaming fatigue/boredom is because games don't cover the same breadth of experiences that movies and books do.

I'm sorry but you clearly have a very limited view on women. I like romantic comedies, action movies and videogames. i also like freaking shopping as long as it doesnt take more than 2 hours. women have many sides to them. i love my games and my jane austen books so maybe you need to stop seeing women in such a two dimensional way cause we are way more complex than that.

You must have missed the part where I said: "I'm not saying that all women are like that" from my original post.  Also the second paragraph is talking about both men and women.  I also never mentioned shopping at all and it doesn't matter as it has nothing to do with the point I made.  Even if you are a woman it doesn't change the fact that there are no games like The Notebook, Pretty Women, etc that are aimed squarely at women (and yes even if that offends you for some bizarre reason it still doesn't make it not true).

Edit: Oh and for some clairification the OP is basically saying that men and women are basically the same but that isn't true for all men and women because if it were you wouldn't be seeing movies that are skewed towards one or the other or this forum being predominantly male.  There are a lot of women who's interests are not represented in AAA gaming (the same for men but just less of them).

Girl gamers do not like the same games as men. Male gamers do not like the same games as other males. Tastes are wide and varried and everyone is different.

That said, there are some generalizations you can make between men and women and their interests. Men are more overtly hostile and violent. Our animal instincts incourage us to compete, and we enjoy having a direct conflict with a rival and bettering them is pleasing. Women also enjoy competition, but lacking in natural physical strength they naturally compete more in social manipulation, advancing their role in society through social interaction and bettering their rivals through popularity and opinion. Many women also stuggle with 3-D visualisation (this is a true, bizzar fact, as most women can not pass 3d testing to become air traffic controlers) but have superior organization and multi-tasking skills to men.

So, as a general rule, women will prefer less violence, more puzzle solving, higher social elements and 2D control versus men. This is not all women, and this is not all men, but there are some things that appeal to either sex more often than the other. As stated above, this is clear in movies, book, TV and games. There will be cross-over interests, but generally speaking it will always be mostly men playing Call of Duty, women will like 2D Mario more than 3D Mario, and while playing WOW a man will probably get off from slaying a dragon or winning a round of PvP in the arena, while his wife he met in Azeroth will enjoy the game more for the interaction she gets with him and other members of the clan, and collecting and completing a unique set of gear. Of course, my 73 year old mother loves popping someone with an automatic rifle in Blops2, but she's weird.

i can tell you that pretty woman would make a pretty weird game... what is a women centric game even supposed to look or play like? what you said didnt make any sense, it's like saying all men play COD cause thats the manly game to play, or all men play only FPS. it's a stereotype, stereotyping doesnt work when it comes to gamers. it's a "flawed science"

First off all of those moves are great and has superb acting in them.  the directing was astounding as well.  Regardless though I know plenty of men who like those movies. Maybe more girl like it but a lot of guys may not come out and say it but yes guys do.

Women may be a little more lenient to some things and guys may be a little more towards others but I still stand behind my general statement that yes we are the same.  There is movies that are aimed at certain demographics like Mean Girls.  That is because a girls can relate towards it more.  The Notebook on the other hand both men and women can relate to it. I'm sure you have seen plenty of guys who like My Little Pony.  I think there is a thread dedicated to that show on this site.  Wouldn't you consider that a more girly show?  Why?  And why can't guys like it?  If it's a good it is good regarless of the gender.

And really Uncharted?  You dont know women like action movies?  Plenty of women do.

Anyways as far as recomending a game to a girl, I would treat them the same as I would a guy who has never played a game.  They may not like games because they have never been introduced to games before or maybe they have and they just had a bad experience because of complex controls.  And I certainly won't start them off with something that is complex and complicated.  It is best to start them off with a simple game and then work your way up from there.   Mario games are in my opinion one of the best places to start for anybody.  Oh and once again with Uncharted I've had people come sit next to me while I'm playing it just to watch it.

first is tara babcock, second is mspudding and last is katixxia all three have their streams were they play games like LOL, SC2, Bioshock etc.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

This is just bunk. I was hoping to see a study or something, not personal assumptions.
Anyway I disagree.
Female gamers tend to be casuals, they play mario kart with the guys, but you won't find them sitting at home grinding away at Demon's Souls. (In most cases)

Without Make up, meh

Scary

This is not bad at all, but not DDG.

How old is she?

There can be good looking gaming girls, but it's rare, and the bottom two girls look decently bitchy/controlling.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be with a serious gamer girl. Games are my escape, it's not much of an escape if she follows you lol. I like girls who play games casually.
