Forums - Sony Discussion - Tales PS Vita games haven’t been brought to North America due to poor sales

Now, they chose to remake those games with better quality for the Vita (Tempest still to be seen, as it was heavily criticised for beeing bad), and us fools thought that this time they would certainly bring them over. They sold less than 100k each and still we get nothing! They spent their money twice developing these games and releasing them on the Japanese market and they couldnt bring them over either time. This "not selling enough in the US" is a load of c**p. The DS sold loads but i guess then the excuse was "piracy", even though the DS games sold great despite that.

Basically Namco wants us to get on our knees and beg them very very hard, so they can spit on our faces and laugh. That is whats going on here. They dont care, were second thought customers. With this kind of atitude, yeah... theres no way the series is going to grow here. I'm impressed they decided to bring out Graces and Xillia. But, knowing them, they wont release Xillia 2 so they can spit on our faces again. It happened before with Tales of Destiny 2 afterall. I guess back then the excuse was "westerners only care about 3D games". They always have a terrible one ready.

Indeed    .   And I hope they don't have plan like SEGA : to close their Western offices to focus only on Japanese market.

Maybe I'm wrong   .

What bothers me the most is: they outsourced the development of Innocence R & Hearts R for release in Japan.  Why can't they outsource the localisation in the USA & Europe?  I bet NISA; Aksys; XSeed; Ghostlight, any of the localisation teams would be itching to get their hands on a title as big as Tales.

The voice actors in Japan apparently only license their vocals for use in the Japanese market. So even just subbing the game, would require re licensing all the vocals. I don't get why they don't just use N64 language and go "blu blu blu" to everything XD

90% of the time, this is not true. Different voice actors are with companies that charge higher fees than others, but most publishers are far too cheap to pay for them. That's really what it boils down to, not wanting to pay for the rights.

Dont even get me started on that. On top of it all, they dont let anyone else release the games in the west. Its like they are afraid to be proven wrong so they can freely keep spitting on our faces.

I am honestly pissed off. I was gonna buy a PS3 so i could play graces and Xillia, but now i dont feel inclined to do it at all. Screw them. They are only gonna screw us over with Xillia 2 aswell.

What are their excuses for not bringing over the PS3 Tales games?

The only they aren't planning on bringing over is Vesperia PS3, probably because they already released Vesperia over here. Other than that, there's Graces F, Xillia, and Xillia 2. Graces F already came over, Xillia is coming in August, and Xillia 2 is likely to be localized as well. I hope they change their minds about Vesperia PS3 (as late as it is) but I doubt it'll happen :/

They kept the English version of the song for Graces F and they're keeping the original Japanese song for Xillia so that's good.

Doesn't that sound so assinine? Nearly all of their work is already done!

And I liked what Namco did with Vesperia's song. They had Bonnie Pink sing the song in English and it sounded great imo.

Any of those smaller companies like Xseed and others would be perfect for this game. They realize that jrpg fans actually like Japanese voice acting and would love for it to be in the game. So I believe that they wouldn't have to hire english voice actors, all that would need translating is just the text and that should be like any other job they have done.

It's not like ToIR or ToHR have the greatest reception. You're missing out far more if you choose not to get a PS3 for Graces F and Xillia.

And what makes you think they'll screw us over with Xillia 2? They're bringing over Xillia 1. Whatever their plans are for Vita Tales have absolutely no bearing on whether they plan to localize the console/PS3 ones.

Yes, and namco will miss out on some money. The problem here is the way they are treating fans in the west like second rate costumers for far too long, and im honestly sick of it. Sick of having to hope, beg and wait for a long time for anything to happen. I'm really hitting my limits with namco and the tales studio.

That's because it was only released in Japan. The 360 version released in Japan has the Japanese version of the song.
