Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can we stop arguing for at least 1 week

Why the fuck would we do that?

I left the forum for almost the entire march because of the doom threads (well, being busy after the finals also was a factor), but you'll have to admit we'd be in a somewhat dire state without the doom- and the other negative threads right now. Not enough positive gaming news. No announcements, no nothing. It got better as of lately though.

There has been plenty of good news but they get burried in  trash threads.  More people will start leaving if this continues.  I can go to other sites and find news that is actually worth reading instead of reading a lot of the garbage on this site.

Hm, I most certainly didn't notice a good chunk of it then. Some very good games released, Nintendo is finally going to fix the WiiU menu, MGS V looks VERY promising...and that's about all positive news I noticed this month. No new infos about the PS4, no big announcements for the WiiU, no info on the Nextbox...

But yeah, I'll agree the atmosphere on this forum was pretty unbearable at times. It somewhat seems to get better though (might just be due to the twitter post of that MS dude though, since now Sony and Nintendo fans can diss a common enemy instead of each other)...

I'm ok with people expressing their dislike if it's on topic. In a Vita thread if you bring up your hate of gamecube, well that's just stupid.

Nintendo was the brunt the joke for a while, after Sony, and now it's Microsoft's turn. Can't stop till we get enough

I'd say all three are getting attacked often at the moment.  Every WiiU thread is mostly negative by this point and the NeXbox with rumors flying around people on both sides are going crazy.  Then sony takes some hits with the Vita and there financial situations.

What annoys me more than anythuing is all these negative opinion piece articles are the ones that is getting the most hits.  It just enourages users like Somini to keep putting them on this site.

You sure about that? That's why the OP is complaining!

Can people stop acting like a product or firm is a part of their identity? Can people stop self victimizing and interpreting opinions on a firm's performance or business strategy as a personal attack?

I agree that people should stop acting like a firm is their identity but people are taking them as personal attacks from 1 of 2 things.  the creator of the thread is someone known to attack them in the 1st place and the other on is that most of the negative threads have been opinion pieces rather than anything that is actually factual.

What's wrong with opinions? Who cares where the opinion comes from?

I think shit opinions, that is, opinions backed up by shit logic or evidence are bad. I think shit threads are bad (threads that have no room for discussion, or are just fucking sad and disturbing). But I would LOVE to see more "hostile" threads that have some unique and interesting ideas back up by good logic.

I think people trying to stifle discourse are facists, especially the type that self victimize themselves and cry that they are being silenced while trying to silence others.

Yeah, forgive me. I even included it towards the end of the post (forgive me, I'm somewhat drunk right now...)

No can do.

Would be nice to have some official Xbox news though, a 360 price cut, anything since my bunker is running out of ammo and the enemy keeps getting resupplied as of late (more active news)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Not trying to sound mean, but realistically that's not going happen no matter how much you ask them not too. Best thing you can do is simply ignore those types of threads, or atleast don't comment in them. It's what I started doing after realizing shortly after joining this site how much negativity it has on it. I've been enjoying it a lot more, as there are still plenty of positive an interesting threads on here. If for some reason you can't find any, make your own!
